He's one bad apple she just can't resist . . .

Kennedy Sinclair never dreamed she'd own a pie shop and an orchard in a small town like Destiny Bay. But nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean, it's the perfect place to cross something off her "Life's short so eat the icing first" list and start her life over from scratch. Her shop, Sweetie Pies, is famous for its hot, flaky apple turnovers and sinfully delicious deep dish pie. For Kennedy though, nothing is more enticing than the tall, strapping slice of temptation who keeps coming back for more.

Luke Callahan is determined to make his hard cider business a success. With his beloved father's cider recipe and the opportunity of a lifetime in his grasp, he'll stop at nothing to get this deal done. There's just one catch: he needs Kennedy's apples. At first, he thinks it'll be as easy as pie to charm those apples right off her trees. But Kennedy isn't falling for his tender charms or his wicked ways. When the negotiations start heating up, so do the feelings they have for each other. And it takes just one kiss to seal the deal . . .

In this charming contemporary, first in Adair’s Destiny Bay series, a woman looking for a fresh start finds new purpose when she buys a small-town pie shop and the apple orchard that supplies it. Kennedy Sinclair is confident that she can make a go of Sweetie Pies and put her cheating ex far behind her. However, local hard-cider brewer Luke Callahan also needs those apples to propel his business to the next level. With two dreams at stake, the clash of wills between Kennedy and Luke proves legendary, but their mutual attraction is even stronger, turning the fierce, if friendly, rivalry into a tentative courtship. Adair (Chasing I Do) has the perfect recipe for a tasty, if unchallenging, romance: a dash of sweetness, a pinch of spice in the bedroom, and a heap of comedic playfulness spread among the comfortably eccentric cast. Readers will root for both protagonists as they pursue their seemingly incompatible goals, even as they wonder why Kennedy and Luke don’t just sit down and talk. Agent: Jill Marsal, Marsal Lyon Literary. (Sept.)

I received an ARC of this book from Hachette Publishing for a honest and fair review. This is the first book in author Marina Adair’s “Destiny Bay” series. It tells the love story of Kennedy Sinclair and Luke Callahan. I found Kennedy to be a contradiction. She was traumatized by the lack of love and attention from her mother as a child. Kennedy’s mother would frequently leave her with her own mother while she traipsed around the country looking for excitement from whatever boyfriend she had at the time. This left Kennedy craving order, security, and the “safe” choice. Yet Kennedy let her life get so entangled with his that she is out of a home and job when she catches him cheating on her with their salsa dance teacher. She immediately packs up and heads to her Grandmother’s house in Georgia. Grandmother convinces Kennedy who was “born organizing” to give up on her accounting career and move to Washington State to run a pie shop that is run by an old friend of Grandmother’s. Kennedy won 3rd place in the county fair as a teen so she’s qualified. On one page she says she’s not going to be making a life changing decision based on a man. Yet a few pages later she does just that. Luke Callahan runs Callahan Orchards and is trying to start a hard apple cider business with his best friend Hawk. He needs the 3 acres of apples that are promised to Kennedy when she purchased the shop from his aunt and mother. He up front tells her that he’ll do anything to get those apples. He then proceeds to see if he can figure out Kennedy’s weak spot to get those apples. Kennedy craves love, the feeling of being worthy of love and family and Luke capitalizes on this. She falls in love with him and he doesn’t realize until it is almost too late that he is in love with her too. Their interactions were cute and Kennedy definitely livened up when she got to Washington. I did feel if maybe he’d just talked to his mother then a lot of his misunderstandings in the book could have been prevented. A few of the characters in the book are similar to ones in Adair’s previous books. Including one guilty about their parents death, one dumped on their grandparents, one tough on the outside to hide hurts on the inside, feisty senior citizens and one in love with an ex’s sibling. The book contains a preview of the next book in the series featuring Luke’s best friend Brian Hawk and Ali (his ex sister in law).

The witty conversations and playfulness between Kennedy and Luke as they battle each other for the apples kept me smiling. I enjoyed every minute of their story as they tried to fight their sizzling chemistry. Last Kiss of Summer has the perfect combination of romance and humor. I love the small town of Destiny Bay and all of its residents. I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series! I hope it is Hawk's story. This is the first book that I have read by Marina Adair and I love her writing style. She is now one of my auto-buy authors. I can't wait to catch up on her other series. **I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.**

Like a perfect piece of Humdinger apple pie, Last Kiss of Summer is a delectable treat to be savored and enjoyed! Marina Adair begins her new “Destiny Bay” series with a story filled with love, longing and jealousy - and that is just about the apples! As the book description states, Kennedy Sinclair is ready for a fresh start. And what a fresh start she gets when her grandmother’s loving “push” coupled with her love of baking takes Kennedy across the country to take over a bake shop in Destiny Bay, Washington. “Sweetie Pies” is famous for its delicious treats, most (if not all) featuring local apples which are grown on a tract of land that is part of Kennedy’s purchase of Sweetie Pies. Of course, the sellers of the shop - sisters Fi and Paula are as different as night and day - forgot to tell Paula’s son about the deal. Luke Callahan worked long and hard to hang onto the family apple orchard after his father’s death. His final prize is within reach - a chance to take his father’s hard cider to the masses in an exclusive deal with a renown restaurateur. But in order for “Two Bad Apples” to produce enough cider for the deal, Luke needs those acres of apples. As the story flows, Luke begins to desire more that just Kennedy’s apples! The author has done a brilliant job of introducing Destiny Bay along with its charming citizens to the reader - the writing is top-notch and there’s witty banter by the bushel between the characters. Kennedy and Luke’s journey, not only towards their “couple” HEA but their individual search for peace with their pasts, is beautifully portrayed. It is a credit to Ms. Adair that her books, which from the beginning featured top-notch writing and engrossing plots, just get better and better! I highly recommend this book and series! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kennedy is used to be disappointed, but her stubborn streak doesn't stop her trying to make a success of the bakery she just bought. To do that, she needs the apples that are part of Luke's orchard. Luke needs those apples to fulfill a deal for his cider business that will help him get back his mom's old house. The more he gets to know Kennedy, the harder it is for him to follow through his his plan to get the apples from her at any cost. He's just a good guy trying to do the right thing, even if sometimes he goes about it the wrong way. Fun, sweet, sexy and quirky, this small town romance with a great set of characters is guaranteed to please contemporary romance lovers! My only complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed, but I did enjoy the sneak peek a the next book featuring Luke's best friend Hawk. 4.5 stars I received an ARC via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.

This is the first book in The Destiny Bay series and it was great! Kennedy Sinclair moves to Destiny Bay, Washington to start over. She buys the local pie shop Sweetie Pies. Enter Luke Callahan, he needs Kennedy's apples for his business and from there it gets sooo good! I loved Kennedy and Luke! I loved their banter! I loved all of the secondary characters! I can't wait to visit this town and these people again!

This book was such a sweet, sexy read!! I loved how Kennedy didn't let things keep her down, even when life kept throwing her punches that seemed to want to knock her out. She's a strong, stubborn heroine who I could definitely picture as my best friend. Luke is a sexy hero, but in typical guy fashion says the wrong thing at the wrong time and screws up lol. The best part? He tried so hard to right that wrong. I loved how the community finally came together and welcomed Kennedy and what she brought to the community, even if it wasn't their norm. The secondary characters added as much to the story as these 2 did, and I can't wait to read Hawk's story, especially after the sexual tension that was floating around on the pages between him and another character. A fantastic read I would definitely recommend!!

Last Kiss of Summer by Marina Adair is the first book in her new Destiny Bay series. Kennedy Sinclair is starting over, pursuing her dreams of owing her own pastry shop. The ideal opportunity finds its way to Kennedy's lap (with a little help from her Grandmother). She is able to buy Sweetie Pie, and institution in small town USA. Luke Callahan owns Callahan orchards, and has big dreams for the family grown heirloom apples. So, he was more than just a little surprised when he learned that his mom and Aunt had not only sold their shop, but also promised his apples to Kennedy. While Luke and Kennedy are battling it out over apples, they're also fighting the sparks that are flying between them every time they battle over the proper use of the apples. The banter between the two is witty, sexy, heated. I was rooting for both of them. to find a common ground so that both of their dreams could come true. Slowly Luke found himself doing small things, helping Kennedy, being the good guy she doesn't believe exists, helping make her dreams come true. The chemistry between like and Kennedy was smoking hot, yeah of them getting in deeper with every interaction. They were fabulously fun and sexy. And the family and friends that surround Kennedy and Luke are supportive and funny. They make Destiny Bay the kind of town you'd want to pack up and move across the country for.

Kennedy Sinclair needs to a new beginning. Life has dealt her one craptastic thing after another. Buying a pie shop across country gives her a new start, a new life, and new opportunities! Meeting Luke Callahan wasn't in her plan. As their "War of the Apples" begins, Luke needs the apples for his hard cider, Kennedy needs them for her pies. Luke can't choose between his attraction to Kennedy and saving his family's business. In the end, you hope it can be a win/win! Great first book to a new series by Marina Adair! Can't wait for the Hawk's story next!!

Last Kiss of Summer is the first book in Marina Adair's new Destiny Bay Series and it's a wonderful start to the series! Kennedy Sinclair leaves her home town (after catching her boyfriend cheating on her) to start a new life in Destiny Bay and take ownership of the beloved and award winning apple pie bakery Sweetie Pies. She wants to continue in the tradition of the original owners, but also make it her own. After meeting hottie Luke Callahan things are about to get really interesting...She needs the special apples that have always gone into the famous/award winning pies and to keep the business going and he needs those same apples for his Hard Cider business. Without them, the business deal and his late father's dream wont' happen. What Luke isn't prepared for is the feelings he develops for Kennedy and what that means for his future. As with all of Marina's books, the chemistry between the characters is felt right from the beginning. Kennedy and Luke have it in spades. I loved that this was a slower build though to the relationship. I loved Kennedy's character. She is no push-over and she won't let Luke charm is way into getting her apples. But can she fight off the attraction and heat between them? Can Luke find a way to save his business deal without costing Kennedy her dream? This book was another winner from Marina Adair and I'm very much looking forward to reading more in this series!

I was worried starting this that I wouldn't love Destiny Bay as much as I love St. Helena's. Was I ever wrong. I am so in love with the quirky, quaint little town of Destiny Bay and Kennedy and Luke's story was a great one to start the series off! Luke Callahan is back in Destiny Bay determined to make his new business a success. With his father's hard cider recipe and his family's apples it's a sure thing. One little problem. His mother has made a deal with the town's newest resident, Kennedy Sinclair, giving her the rights to 3 acres of prime apple orchard. Apples he very much needs. Kennedy needed a fresh start and coming to Destiny Bay was the best bet. No way will she let the very handsome and sexy Luke Callahan keep her from making a success of her business. If he wasn't so adorable and charming she could resist him. Definitely. Probably. Maybe? Their relationship may start out a bit rocky but the spark between them doesn't take long to ignite. You don't want to miss these two finding their way. I highly recommend this one!

I loved Marina's other series, so I was super excited to see the start of a new one. I loved Kennedy and Luke. She's stubborn and sassy and he's probably a bit of the same. They're arguing over the same patch of apples and it's amusing to read it. Throw in a couple of older women and some snarky friends and I couldn't be happier. The chemistry is fantastic, the banter is delightful, and the ending {although a bit rushed} is adorable. I would have loved to get an epilogue, but where it stopped worked. I can't wait to see who the next book is about. **Huge thanks to Forever and Edelweiss for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**

Heartbroken Kennedy after a serious breakup with her boyfriend finds herself in Destiny Bay running a pie shop called Sweetie Pies. One day Luke shows up and takes a pie. Since Kennedy is new in town she has no clue who this sexy looking guy is. Finds out Luke needs the apples promised to Kennedy to make his cider while Kennedy needs to bake her pies. This takes off with a bang, awesome, funny and down right sexy and intriguing. You are drawn in right from the start and can almost taste the pies and cider. This is a great start to Marina's new series and can't to see what's next.
