I get ask a lot “What is your book about?” This is a tough question to answer without giving the book away, but a book, to me is a journey. I try to touch on all of one’s emotions i.e. Love, hate, death, romance, mystery, adventure and of course one must have a humor or I think you would go crazy in life. I think my book, The Last Ruble, also focuses on loyalty, not only to loved ones, but to one’s self. Loyalty to me is one of the major foundations in life.
There are two main characters in my book, Jack Rivers who lives in the current times and Vladimir, a Russia soldier, who lives in a past years. Together they travel many of the same paths in life, while searching for peace. Their travels around the world and over the years bring them across the paths of many different people from different cultures and both seek to understand the meaning of peace within, although the cards they are handed to play are not always a winning hand.
Not only will many of your emotions be touched in my book, but you will end up pulling for my main characters, as you live with them, as they come upon the cross roads in life they encounter.

Meet the Author

Joe D. Wells, Jr. (aka Island Joe) was born in Arkansas in 1959. His childhood involved a lot of moving, attending perhaps 10 different schools, before graduating high school from Colombia Military Academy.
He worked various jobs, making his stake as a off Wall Street Investment Banker, traveling the world, several times over. His knowledge of Wall Street is self taught
He moved his family to Key West, Florida in the early 90's, then losing his first wife, Elizabeth,, to cancer, he was left to raise three children, which he will tell you is no easy job and perhaps, he could have done better, but he sure could have done a lot worse. Everyone seems fairly normal.
His family started Island Joe's Coffee Roasting Company around 2005, which has gained international fame for their ability to roast fine gourmet coffee and espresso. Then he begin baking, which bakers start early in the morning. Finding he had time between baking pastries and roasting coffee for customers, he begins writing, finding the solitude at the café early the mornings to be very relaxing. He can write without being disturbed, after all Key West is a drinking island, which most occurs at night and Joe D. has be known to enjoy his drink.
