Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carly Reagan
A passionate form of dance originating from many cultures and moments in history, Latin Dance has long been seen as a sensual form of dance between partners who tell a story together. Discussing everything from the historical origin, to basic dance moves, to personal profiles of a few current professional dancers, this is a "sampler platter" introduction to Latin Dance, not delving deeply into any one particular aspect. Though the presentation from page to page can feel scattered and would benefit from a more logical sequence, the information is engaging and the photos and page layouts are stimulating and exciting. Part of a series of "On the Radar" books spotlighting dance and sports. A glossary is included, providing some helpful, though random, definitions, as well as a list in the back of recommended reading about the subject. Tweens interested in the very basics of Latin Dance are likely to use this as a jumping off point, finding certain interests sparked and later seeking elsewhere to learn more deeply about the aspects which they find most interesting.
