In her second cookbook, Hoffmann (Simply Delicioso) introduces readers to healthier Latin cuisine. She substitutes whole-grain toasts for deep-fried tortillas in Black Beans and Queso Fresco Five-Grain Tostadas, and boneless pork loin chops for pork shoulder in Mexican Pork Pozole. Perhaps realizing that recipes like Fluffy Egg White Pancakes with Papaya-Banana Compote (essentially a sweet egg white omelet) won't satisfy all cravings, Hoffmann includes a true "indulgence" at the end of each chapter. VERDICT Health-conscious readers who enjoy bold flavors will love these easy recipes. Highly recommended.
