All things wiggly, squiggly, squirmy, and wormy slither through these side-splitters. That’s sure to delight kids with a fondness for slimy snakes, hairy spiders, and every type of buggy creature. Why is computer class a spider’s favorite? Spiders just love the web. What kind of bug does a knight fight? A dragonfly. Why do bees have sticky hair? They brush with a honeycomb. Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Humor has its place and sometimes it is visual, physical, or, as with this series of "Laugh-a-Long Readers," mostly a play on words. In this title, not all the jokes relate to reptiles, but they tend to be about snakes, bugs, and other slither creatures. For example, "Why did the worm sleep late every morning?" Answer—"He didn't want the early bird to catch him." In addition to jokes and riddles that have been around awhile, some require knowledge of current technology. "Why is computer class a spider's favorite?" Answer—"Spiders just love the web." Since many of the jokes require good language skills (homonyms, synonyms and the like), the books in this series offer an opportunity to strengthen them. Teachers could make use of the books by posting a joke of the day on the chalkboard. However, in some cases the illustrations are the most amusing part of the joke. For those who are observant, the jokes are printed in a regular font while the answers appear in italic font. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
