Editorial Reviews

Lauren Conrad is just twenty-four, but she is already well known for several reasons. Her reality roles in MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills made her famous; her pretty face has graced the covers of Cosmo, Seventeen and other magazines; she designs a namesake clothing line; and she's the author of the top-selling teen novels L.A. Candy and Sweet Little Lies. This fully illustrated style guide features Lauren's favorite tips on looking good and staying stylish. A fine gift for any fretful teenage girl.

Publishers Weekly
Reality star turned fashion designer and author, Conrad (the L.A. Candy series) offers a top-to-bottom guide to personal style for readers who don’t have stylists (Conrad dedicates the book to her team). She goes over wardrobe essentials (“If my devotion to black platform heels isn’t already clear, let me confirm it here”), makeup tips, suggestions for working with different types of hair, and advice on how to dress for various occasions. Her voice is consistently entertaining, confident, and accessible, and her advice is practical--these are suggestions that work whether one is shopping for Chanel or secondhand gems. Set against plain white backgrounds, copious photographs of Conrad--and more than a few of her favorite things--give the book the feel of a palette from which readers can select what best suits their style. Ages 12–up. (Oct.)

VOYA - Nancy Wallace
Packed full of trendy fashion tips and advice, this book will fascinate teenage girls. Early chapters cover how and where to shop to build a wardrobe and provide hints for organizing a closet. Conrad identifies basic wardrobe essentials and explains how to accessorize to create many different looks with a few key components. She also includes a very easy solution for hemming your own jeans. A basic shoe wardrobe is outlined, paring things down to essential buys. Makeup tips cover daytime to nighttime, advising quick basic routines that can have you looking your best and out the door in ten minutes. A section on managing long hair shows how Lauren dresses her hair up or down to suit the occasion. In addition, packing for travel is outlined, along with basics to create multiple looks for vacation or road trips. Suggestions are also given for appropriate looks for school and work. The text is funny and down to earth, constantly interspersing advice with humor. Suggestions are practical and affordable for the average teen, such as altering thrift store or consignment finds and storing clothes so they last longer. She tackles issues of self-esteem, admitting that no woman is ever satisfied with her own body. Color photographs complement the text. A funny shot of an evening gown held together with giant clamps illustrates that professional photos only show what the photographer wants you to see. Overall, this is a very comprehensive and insightful look at fashion for today's young women. Reviewer: Nancy Wallace

As a fan of Lauren Conrad and a HUGE fan of her style, I was ecstatic when I found out that she would be writing a style guide. It's filled with great info on fashion, makeup, and how to begin creating your own personal style. Some of the tips can be basic and common sense, but it's a great foundation for women to begin establishing themselves stylistically. Lauren writes from a personal perspective and doesn't sound like many arrogant celebrities out there. I hope she continues to write more style guides as she, and her career grow!

I love it! Unlike most other style guides, this one has kind of half and half pictures and writing. I enjoyed the little stories along with all of the outfits too. The makeup and hair section are actually quite detailed, good if you really want to achieve her signature look! Great read:)

I love Lauren. I love how she always seems to have a good head on her shoulders. And I love her sense of style even more. I've already finished reading her book and I just got it in the mail 3 days ago. Very good book.

I really enjoyed this book. I've always admired Lauren's style so when I came across her style guide I had to have it. I've never been much of a fashionista myself but this book gave me all the tips and tricks I need to build my own comfy yet chic new look. Thanks Lauren! Just wish it was available on my Nook.

Honestly, it's a pretty interesting read for something that Lauren Conrad sculpted with a few choice fashion experts and the help of her side notes from her life. Focusing on main points of style and really trying to give a bit of flavor for a straight forward style guide, the book will more inspire you to get organized with your wardrobe rather than inspire you to try something daring in choices of fashion... Well, that's how I felt after I finished reading.

Being a huge fan of Lauren Conrad not only as a person, but of her style as well, I was excited to get this book. Her explanations for what to do (or not) are wonderful - and make so much sense! I loved the ways that she showed how to add things to the classic LBD to completely change your style. I've been searching for ways to do the smokey-eye look and I hadn't found a good one until I got this book. She teaches you two ways to do it -- light to dark and dark to light. My hair is so straight and doesn't like to hold waves when I just add product. LC gave some instructions on how to get awesome waves and keep them. Once the weather is warmer here, I'm definitely going to try it! While I loved almost all of this book, there were, of course, parts I didn't like. But, if you love anything about Lauren, be it her makeup or clothing, go buy this book... You won't regret it. (:

I've always been a fan of Lauren Conrad and her style so I was really excited to get this book. It definitely didn't disappoint and had lots of practical advice that anyone can use. It didn't just tell you about Lauren's style but also tips on how to create your own personal style. I really loved this book and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for some styling tips!
