The date of the very first edition of this work is not stated, though it was no doubt published during compiler Giles's lifetime1686-1744. This six-volume set is a facsimile reprint of an 1811 edition (published by I. Riley, New York, and P. Byrne, Philadelphia). Now that's quite a subtitleand it's also a thorough description of the contents.
