I originally purchased this book almost 25 years ago and was compelled to write this as I just noticed that there is a new edition (forth) being sold on amazon.com. There are others sold in Canada but no other Barnes & Noble ones. I bought the new edition and I loved the updates and see that the son of Desmond Rowland is helping out on this one. The American version 1985 has the American Bill of Rights while the new edition 2009 has the Canadian Charter Right's. The content applies really to all law enforcement officers and is terrific for new cops and seasoned officers. Maybe there will be an American version but until then I reccomend the new edition 4 if you search on the net you will find it.
Keep the criminals behind the bars.
