I read this book from the public library. I sifted through the business books and the "finding happiness" books and I found "The Lazy Person's Guide to Success." I was intrigued and thought to myself, "Hey, if I can feel successful living a lazy, leisure-filled life, I want it!" Now, that wasn't what this book was about. This book shows the necessary need to escape from the western idea of work and into our own definition. It explains that we don't have to work 60 hour work weeks -at a job we do not love- to get the pleasures out of life that we desire most. This idea allows us more freedom to define how we want to live our successful lives and be happy living it! It explains how success is different for everyone and the more I read this book, the more I realized that it held some of the answers I needed: 1.) Less stress today and for the future 2.) More satisfaction with doing work I enjoy 3.) Never feeling guilty for spending time developing my talents, interests/hobbies and developing relationships with loved ones. I often have felt that in order to be a success in society I needed to drown myself in my career or secure job. I learned by reading "The Lazy Person's Guide to Success" that a person can be productive, inspiring and a great source of knowledge without being a "work horse." I discovered a better definition of how I would want to lead my life. This book focused on finances, managing wants and needs, and it also helps an individual be true to themselves. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to live a balanced life, while continuing to be a value to society in their work.
