Overview

Au Moulin du loup, la vie quotidienne poursuit son cours paisible en cette année 1905. Les frères de Claire, Matthieu et Nicolas ont adopté la fillette, ainsi que le demi-loup, Sauvageon. Entre son vieil ami Basile, ancien instituteur aux idées humanistes, sa servante Raymonde, mariée au meilleur ami de Jean, l'ancien matelot Léon, devenu domestique chez les Roy, les travaux ménagers, sa passion pour l'herboristerie, Claire a trouvé un équilibre.

Le retour de Jean, en compagnie de Térésa, une veuve tapageuse et volubile, va briser la paix de la maisonnée. Le couple emmène Faustine, au grand désespoir de toute la famille. Mais Claire ne renonce pas. Elle veut reconquérir l'homme qu'elle aime et reprendre la fillette. Sa force morale et sa sincérité viendront à bout de tous les obstacles. Jean lui revient finalement et ils se marient.

Au fil des années, s'égrènent joies et peines. Les enfants grandissent. Puis une femme, Blanche Dehedin, arrive au moulin, pour annoncer à Jean qu'elle est sa sœur jumelle et lui offre la moitié de son héritage. Femme ambiguë, la nouvelle institutrice du village va semer le trouble dans ce foyer paisible. Mais l'amour qui unit Jean et Claire résiste à toutes les tempêtes, jusqu'à ce que la Première Guerre mondiale les sépare…
