Description en francais :

Description in English :

The Little Prince , first published in 1943, is a novella, the most famous work of French aristocrat, writer, poet, and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupery (1900-1944).
The novella is the fourth most-translated book in the world and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects (as well as Braille), selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totaling over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best-selling books ever published.
The novella has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film, television, ballet, and operatic works.
The Little Prince is a poetic tale, in which a pilot stranded in the desert meets a young prince fallen to Earth from a tiny asteroid. The story is philosophical and includes social criticism, remarking on the strangeness of the adult world.
Though ostensibly styled as a children's book, The Little Prince makes several observations about life and human nature. For example, Saint-Exupery tells of a fox meeting the young prince during his travels on Earth. The story's essence is contained in the lines uttered by the fox to the little prince: "One sees clearly only with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eye." Other key thematic messages are articulated by the fox, such as: "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." and "It is the time you have lost for your rose that makes your rose so important." The fox's messages are arguably the book's most famous quotations because they deal with human relationships.
Includes beautiful illustrations!

Le Petit Prince is a thoughtful story for both children and adults. Good way to keep your French fresh and read a wise classic at the same time.

Apologies for my horrid French- I am but a third year student. We read this book as a class in French during the past weeks and it was incredibly moving and eye-opening. For one thing, it helped ease the stress of upcoming exams not only because we were reading the book and not doing intense grammar review, but also because of the potent message of stopping to smelling the roses and not letting life pass you by. It was, quite literally, life-changing. (I'm the businessman type myself.) Whether you speak French or not, read this book. It's the most amazing thing. The last chapters had some of my classmates in tears. The illustrations as well are incredible. I can't say enough good things about this masterpiece that Saint-Exupéry was kind enough to give us before he disappeared. Surely this is the most enduring classic the world over, for adults and for children alike.

I read this book in high school and absolutely loved it. Now, 6 years later, I'm reading it to my husband. This story never gets old. It could possibly be the best book I've ever read.

This book is fabulous! It really gives a new and different look at the world and the human society in general. Even if you don't understand the hidden symbolism, it is a fantastic story.

Any adult may soon notice that the book only looks like an illustrated one for children. But there is SO MUCH more in it. I have kept reading the book each year at least once since childhood. And this is 30 years back now. It teaches us this lesson that nothing is more important than...

This was a great book. I read it in English in my French class and then I went out and bought it in french. I loved the message the book brought out. Also, we watched the movie in French class and I love the messages the author wrote in the book.

This book is very good if you can understand the underlying messages that the characters are giving and what they represent in the history of this world! Reading this for the first time in my French class really made me think about the things that were going on during that time period and the other lives associated with the war. History classes tell you the people that were involved and were affected, but it doesn't give the same affect as one that experienced it first hand.
