As a filly, Sunbeam Dancer kept a dark secret. Even her sister, the accepting and trustworthy Rainbell, didn't know about it. On the day she meant to tell her, Rainbell became a princess. She lost the opportunity. And her only chance for sanity. ----- Prologue: The golden colored filly was a pretty one, no doubt about that, the spirit thought. And so innocent. The spirit looked at its smoky self sadly. It hoped that by doing this, It could become a better person. The spirit watched the filly trot away, then it flared and chased the filly, which squeaked and hurried away. But the spirit was faster. It cornered the filly. "I will explain," the spirit rasped, barely a voice. The filly trembled. "I need to take a form-" the filly jumped up, enraged. "Go possess somepony else! Or better yet, go away, you creepy shadow thing!" The spirit felt a pang of sorrow, piercing and deep. It remember flashes of its own former life. What was my name? It wondered. Peppermint Breeze? Peppermint Dream? Something like that. "No..." it whispered. "I just need a form to manifest in. I'll just take up a part of your mind. That's all. Nothing else." It was wracked with guilt for lying to this innocent little filly. So like her little sister...sister? It didn't have a sister. It pushed the thought away. The filly calmed down. "Okay then..." she murmured. "This won't hurt a bit," the spirit promised, and then it rushed into her mind. It flashed by every memory the filly had, and the closer it got to the first memory, it was remembering more of its past life. She remembered her name- yes, she remembered that she was female. Peppermint Dream... she remembered her friends, family, her appearance...and then she looked out from the filly's eyes, heard from the filly's ears, and was enamored in the filly. The filly. Sunbeam Dancer. Peppermint Dream's spirit lay contentedly in Sunbeam's mind. Ready to take over when she was an adult. ~Tropic NEXT CHAPTER IN NEXT RESULT
