Overview

The master motivator shows how to cultivate the traits that all great leaders must possess?
As Rick Pitino says, great leaders aren't born great; they learn great leadership along the path of life. Pitino's insights on leadership and how it can be harnessed in positive and productive ways make him one of the most sought-after speakers in corporate America. In Lead to Succeed, Rick Pitino shares the ten traits of great leadership he discovered and has cultivated himself, and shows how you too can incorporate them into your own game plan. His program includes:

* How to build a "team ego" to give people a stake in winning
* How to keep a group focused and free of distraction
* Lessons from Rick's own experiences coaching players and managing employees

Pitino reveals why dictating and people-pleasing are dead ends, and how communication, consistency, and selflessness are the most effective ways to motivate the people who follow you-at work and at home. A perfect book for executives, managers, and sports fans, Lead to Succeed can make great leadership within reach.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
On court or off, NBA coaching legend Rick Pitino knows how to motivate people. This crisply written bestseller is among the most appealing leadership books we've ever reviewed or read.
From the Publisher
"So much more than another Armani suit, Pitino has done a job of psychology and salesmanship that should serve as a how-to manual for his profession."
--Chicago Sun-Times

"Pitino is a proven winner."
--Boston Herald

Library Journal
"Great leaders are not born great; they learn great leadership along the path of life," says Pitino (Success Is a Choice), currently head coach and president of the Boston Celtics. Sadly, Pitino's life dependence on sports results in an overhyped, near histrionic leap from dunking basketballs at the buzzer to winning the game, something that is supposed to be awed. The tired topics covered include the author's perspective on key leadership traits: having a clear vision and strong communication and building a team ego, all of which we have heard many, many times before. Issues addressed include how to be an effective leader and still be honest, how the past can hurt you, and how you can get your team out of a slump. A slump? Whatever in the world does this have to do with today's business reality? Pass on this, and instead be proud of the leadership collection built on the ageless wisdom of such stellar writers as Stephen Covey and Peter Drucker.--Dale Farris, Groves, TX Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
