Even the best leaders will be convicted of personal excuses vs. accountability. This is recommended reading for every management team. What a great way to get everyone on the same page! Chapter eight is a read and then read again, on a subject seldom covered; "Wield Your Biggest Stick: The Power To Take Things Away. Follow that with "Whet The Appetite For Truth" and you have some powerful coaching tools. I wish this book had been available years ago.....

Some of my observations in this tough economy include the never ending need for leaders to drive consistently higher levels of performance. The leadership strategies and practices detailed in "Leadership Without Excuses" lays out exactly how to do that. It is a fast read filled with real stories and examples from a variety of leaders articulating their lessons learned leading to getting the performance they need from their people. Simply put, it is the perfect book for leaders in today's economy.

Leadership Without Excuses is an excellent read and an extremely helpful business tool both for managers and anyone with leadership responsibities. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to hone their skills. You will take away some great ideas. I look forward to their next book on a different business topic as well.

Gregg Baron and Jeff Grimshaw have written a classic. The book includes concepts that are relevant and applicable in a multitude of environments not just corporate.As a member of the creative community I applied the lessons I learned immediately. My favorite chapters include 'Prevent excuses before they happen' and ' Proven strategies for compelling consequences'. I have already recommended it to a number of artists that I work with who are challenged by communicating clear and credible expectations. Gregg and Jeff provide a number of useful strategies for effectively interacting within a group.

I found this text quite an easy read with compelling actual examples for immediate application in ones place of business. These prose should be read by any and all of those Managers in a leadership role.
