Who is Dr. Edward B. Fry?
In 1996, Dr. Fry expanded on the Dolch sight word lists and research and published a book titled Fry 1000 Instant Words. His research found that a mere 25 words make up approximately 1/3 of all items published. He discovered that 100 words comprise approximately 1/2 of all publications written, and 300 words make up 65% of all written material.
Fry developed his list based on the facts and he worked to inspire young children to memorize these sightwords to jump-start the reading process. Frys sight words lists are widely used today and highly respected by both teachers and parents.

I thought this app was like a work book for little kids but it reads them the answer so if you use it,turn the volume off if you want your kids to actually learn something.

The volume is uneven as the flash cards are read. Some application for 2nd langauage learners. No pictures with the words, so not good for pre-schoolers.

The combination of visual and audio was well received! The app also opened discussion on the meaning and everyday usage of the words shown/ spoken, which enhanced the whole learning experience.
