    I thought for $1 I couldn't go wrong. I was mistaken.

I'd give this zero stars if I could. For starters, the synopsis seems to be for a completely different book. I purchased it for the discussion of crocheting a perfect circle, which supposedly appears on pages 52-54. Unfortunately, the text ends at page 21 of the scanned document (page 47 of the file)at which point you are treated to a "special bonus" "trial" of IRISH CROCHET AND HOW TO MAKE IT. That's right--it's two badly compiled books for the price of one! There is NO discussion of perfect circles & doilies at all. While it does discuss changing colors and stitching for lefties, they don't appear on the pages or in the order discussed in the synopsis. This isn't the book described.

The file is also badly scanned/compiled. Words run together in nearly every sentence making reading a chore. For example, page 7(16) "on this foundation ch youcan work nearly...to make the second or following stalways insert..." My favorite is the list of abbreviations used in crochet on p. 3 "ChSt(s)stSKSpBLLpPIncDecScDcHdc or sdcTrDtr trPc stLP st" followed by what they mean "chainstitch(es)slip stitchskipspaceblocklooppicotincreasedecreasein crochetdouble crochethalf or single double crochettrebledouble trebletriple treblepopcorn stitchloop stitch." If you're not already familiar with crochet terms & abbreviations, it comes off as utter nonsense.

You're also treated throughout to advertisements for the company making what is undoubtedly a public domain book available for a price CraftseBooks, Host4profit where you can sell your own bad copies of this title, and the 'author's' website where you can purchase crochet patterns!

As for it being "authored" by Maria Vowell, apparently she 'translated' IRISH CROCHET into modern English. Or as the file reads "today 'smodern English." The author of LEARN TO CROCHET isn't identified. Don't waste your money.
