Overview

A decade after publication of his best-selling book, Barth returns to the schoolhouse. Drawing from a career committed to building schools rich in community, learning, and leadership, he shows how to accomplish the most difficult task of school reform-transforming a school's culture so that it will be hospitable to human learning. In an engaging conversational style, he suggests how school people can become the architects, engineers, and designers of their own schools-and of their own destinies.

Learning by Heart by Roland Barth is a book with every turn of the page you are saying "Amen". As a teacher you sometimes feel you are not on the right road to success for your students, but Barth lays out the floor plan for both a good principal and teacher to be successful even with test scores knocking at the door. I learned so much about myself as an educator and those around me. I did this book as a part of a book study with other educators and highly recommend that dialogue between colleagues because we each added so much to the conversations not just about the book but about our school. This is one of the best books I have read as an educator in a really long time.
