This book is a must to have for everyone who wants to learn Mastercam Mill programming. As an experienced Mastercam Programmer I am using it as a referance book. Clear, informative, lot's of graphics. Excellent and inexpensive. I say: buy it.

MORE THAN 90% of all metal cutting in our shop uses 2D machining. The authors understand the needs of an average machine shop and provide an excellent in depth coverage not found in any other texts I have tried so far. The use of graphics instead of words to explain principles makes it easy for me a foreign born skilled worker to learn the software. The text even comes with a bonus CD that has the student version of the software so I can practice at home. I sent a book to my brother in Mexico whose english is very poor and he was also able to learn the basics of Mastercam. Muchas Gracias Amigos!!

too expensive for a 2D book. No lathe or 3D. Too repetitive sometimes in some chapters

This book explains in good step by step instructions on how to use Mastercam. Easy to understand and to learn.

Knighted...? Oscar...? (gotta love authors who review their own books... Good highschool level book. For college or real life applications, get Mastercam Handbooks from CNC Software directly. Far superior explanation of the software with less clutter. The demo cd can be had from any mastercam dealer worldwide for free.

BLOODY GOOD MASTERCAM BOOK. I AM ENJOING IT, BECAUSE IT MAKES LEARNING THE SOFTWARE SO EASY (I NEVER LIKED TO STUDY). THE AUTHORS SHOULD BE KNIGHTED OR GIVEN AN OSCAR. OR SOMETHING...

I found the book acceptable, but repetitive. Considering the size of the book, there are many functions not covered, others are covered over and over. It comes with a demo version of Mastercam but can't save any files

When I purchased this book I was just looking for a good book on Mastercam software for beginners (I am a machinist with 22 years of conventional machining). This book is NOT ONLY G R E A T , BUT IT COMES WITH MASTERCAM software + exercises on a CD. My friends: s a v e your money on going to school. Buy this book and in two weeks you will program as a pro. I did it and you can do it. Congratulations and thanks to the authors.

I sincerely believe that this book is one of the best in it's field. Other Mastercam books on the market are or outdated or try to cover too much in one book (mfg processes, cnc, cad, etc.) I tried to use manuals, but they are good for reference only, not for learning the basics. I like the format of this book. It's student friendly. I just hope that Prof. Valentino and Goldenberg will publish another book on Turning.

This is a wonderful book for beginners who haven't taken Mastercam training or can't afford same. It has lots of practical hands on examples to teach you from A to Z. Very pleased.

I would have preferred less repetition of simple tasks. We couldn't find info on subprograms or horizontal milling. This book could be half the size. Ok for schoolkids but industry use needs more indepth book for the software. Where are multiple operations, 3D milling, boring, remachining, HSM? There are better Mastercam tutorials available

Being a former cnc programmer and now instructor I am very impressed with this book. It is easy for novices to learn the proper techniques of mastercam programming. It presents a logical learning pattern using graphics instead of confusing and lengthy definitions contained in many other texts. I found the exercises to be well designed to illustrate the important aspects of the software. Machining exercises contain detailed process tables to help the student understand the sequence of operations and tooling needed to produce the part. As a bonus the text comes with a fully functional student version of mastercam V9.0 and acompanning student exercises so students can practice at home. I like the fact that the authors concentrated on laying a through foundation on 2D CAD and machining and not creating more confusion by mixing in more complex topics like 3D CAD and machining principles. I assume additional in depth texts on mastercam turning and 3D machining will follow.

Being an experienced Mastercam programmer, I was disappointed with the lack of structure in this book. It is filled with Autocad drawn images of Mastercam (instead of screenshots), and there is no mention of 3D machining anywhere. There are too many examples of similar parts, arranged without any apparent logic or sequence. Basic pocketing, contouring and drilling are covered (over and over and over), but nothing more. There are far better books available from Lin & Shue as well as mastercam dealers worldwide, and they also come with good CD tutorials and lessons.

Extreme care and painstaking detail went into this user-friendly primer on Mastercam. I feel it is a great way to introduce machinists and CNC operators to Mastercam 9 and virtually minimize the traditional learning curve. It is also good for advanced programmers who need to brush up on some of the basics. I myself needed to master some specific processes such as creating operations and tool libraries, which isn't explained well in the help menu or other Mastercam texts. I found it was explained in this book in a thorough manner with graphic details of each step. I would recommend it to CNC tech students, machinists and operators who would appreciate something written from a machinist's point of view.

I've been trying to teach myself Mastercam Mill for the past 6 months, and it was going so slowly till I read this manual. The step by step instructions and pictures helped me visualize what I had to do, its almost like being at a training center. I have gained a concrete grasp of mastercam and I could have not done it without this book. The CD was a great help, I was able to practice all the examples hands on and then compare it to the included completed projects. Kudos to the authors for their great work and realizing that this type of tutorial is exactly what students like me need. Thanks.
