More than any of their previous books, this one has the most to say about what Rolland and Heidi have learned about love--whether in Africa or wherever home might be: finding intimacy with Jesus, concentrating on the humble and lowly, being willing to suffer for love's sake, finding God's supply of utterly needed miracles, and walking in the unquenchable joy of the Lord. Every reader will find incredible challenge and refreshment in these pages.

Wow! What a book. Love the Lord with all your heart an to love your neighbor. To be intemate with God. Without Jesus and the Holy Spirit we are left with toiling and bearing needless burdens. To stop for the one is more than we can know. To love the unlovable, to care for the needy, who may be the wealthiest person alive or the poorest, is the heart of God. Heidi is changing my view of things--praise God! Obey God from your heart; become His friend. Love!
It was refreshing reading "Learning To Love" and seeing all that the Lord has done in Mozambique. Heidi and Rolland Baker share wonderful and encouraging testimonies of their work through Iris Ministries. Granted, I personally struggle with the whole miracle element; the blind seeing, the deaf hearing and the dead rising. However, I respect the work that God is doing through the Baker's in Mozambique. I enjoyed reading the different stories throughout "Learning To Love". The book is inspirational and I recommend it. In conclusion, I want to thank Chosen Books for sending me a complimentary copy of this book to review.
Learning to Love is stories from Heidi and Rolland and their ministry in Mozambique and the amazing signs and wonders they are witnessing there and they do it out of complete love for the people. One things that was stated many times through the book is "Love looks like something." Isn't that true? If I tell my husband I love him but then never show him will he believe me? Or if I tell my kids I love them but lay on the couch all day and never spend time with them, will they believe me? No. Love does look like something. This book will challenge you to examine what love looks like in your life. How are you living out the Christ-like love you claim to have? Some other great quotes from the book are: "I am not qualified to do what I do." p. 12 "If you're not in love, why serve, why minister, why turn up at church, why go to another meeting?" p. 34 "Love God and love the one in front of you." p. 54 That's just a taste of some of the things you will encounter if you pick up this book. If you enjoy reading stories of missionaries you will love this book. I received an egalley of this book from Chosen Books, a division of Baker Publishing, in exchange for an honest review.
