I read and thoroughly enjoyed the first book, Saving Grace. It left me wanting to hear more about Katie, her life, her loves and what craziness is going to creep into her life next. This second book, Leaving Annalise, didn't fail to deliver! You can always find a character that is either "just like you" or someone you know, so it makes it easy to relate to her books. Katie is so likeable, but definitely not perfect. She has a fiery temper and a strange cleaning phobia/obsession. One reviewer stated "We get it, they're in love" but it isn't annoying or over the top to me, it's refreshing to read about a love like Katie and Nick have found. Who doesn't want a man who adores his wife and still gives her chills and butterflies. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book for the Katie & Annalise series!

I was looking forward to this sequel because I wanted to know more about the jumbie house, whether the heroine gets the hero or not, and the flavors and sounds that come alive in this book about island living, murder and mayhem, with a side of suspense and psychotic behavior. What's not to love?

That being said, you should read Saving Grace (first book in series) first because that is where you are introduced to the wonderful, full bodied and sometimes zany characters. That is important. You want to know these people - they could be you or your best friend or your irritating neighbors - except living on a beautiful island. I found Leaving Annalise a perfect second book in this series, even better than the first one, and I really liked the first one!

I received this book free from the author in exchange for a review. I do not know her and this is an honest review.

At first, I thought this was going to be a gushy romantic novel, not my genre. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
It turned out to be a romantic suspense that I thoroughly enjoyed. Apparently so, as I writing this review at 3:00 in the
morning which is the time I finished. It was very well written with lots of plot twists and action. The fact that it was written
by a Texan with scenes from Texas made me enjoy it even further. I highly recommend this book!!!

And, I look forward to reading others in this series.

I am enjoying the series. It's refreshing to read about a flawed main character (Katie) who is also intelligent, strong, and has a vulnerability that feels real to the reader. She grows stronger as life takes her on a whirlwind of adventures, finding love and a place that feels like home despite its quirky characters and the dangerous situations she finds herself in. It's fun to go with her on the journey. Great read!

    Highly recommend

A wonderful book. This is the second book in a trilogy. I recommend you read the first book - Saving Grace - then Leaving Annalise. Both books are fantastic. If you like strong characters, suspense and a little of the "spiritual" elements you'll love this series.

    Interesting take on a mystery

Never read a novel quite like this-combination mystery, romance, psychological thriller and sci-fi. Try this book and others in the series for a surprising ending

Iwas disappointed in a mild way

The first book had nick walking away from her after telling her to leave him alone . Left me heartsick. Then in the sscon book he never excused himself nor was there a mention of his divorce and its complications. The two characters didn't seem relared and even the intimare conversations seemed stiff and repetitive. Loved the jumbie though. The story Could have used a bit more of her influence. One reviewer paid 1.99 and another got the book two free.. i paid 2,99 . I wont pay three ninety nine for book three for sure .

Good story but rambles on and on

Could be a great book with a serious editor who cuts couple hundred irrelevent words. Love the charscters in general but nick speaks like no man ever would. His character switches from rambo to dear abbey to pierce brosnan from one page to the next. Love the plot lines and jumbie house

    Book 2 over 600 pages

This book 2 of a series. It cost $1.99 and is a free standing book. The editing is pretty good. There is some rather tame sex and violence. I really enjoyed this novel. It has over 600 pages, I think it is more like 647, but I am not quite sure. It picks up right where book 1 stopped. Book 3 cost $3.99. There is a bit more about the Jumbie in this novel, although I am unfamilar with voodoo, it still seems like a ghost to me. In this book, Kate gets more men in her life, as it takes unexpected turns. Most of them seem to have an evil side. At times the island lingo gets a bit annoying, but nothing major. The is a hint of religion, some fortune telling, no cursing, romance, the dogs make it through just fine and there is lots of adventure. This book is not quite as chick lit as one was. I enjoyed this story very much. Since the writing is more adult orientated, I recommend this book for ages 16 and up.

In Leaving Annalise, the second book of the Katie & Annalise

In Leaving Annalise, the second book of the Katie & Annalise series, author Pamela Fagan Hutchins transports the readers back into the world of sassy Katie Connell as her madcap adventures continues on the island of San Marcos.

Just like Saving Grace, the first book in the series, Leaving Annalise is a fast-paced entertaining romantic mystery that has just the right amount of drama, suspense and romance that keeps the readers intrigued and turning the pages. Author Pamela Fagan Hutchins weaves an exciting and humorous tale told in the first person narrative by sassy Katie Connell. Katie takes the reader along for the ride on her latest adventure with jumbie Annalise on the island of St. Marcos. This story centers around the relationship between Katie and Nick, but another murder mystery and ensuing mayhem shakes things up on this picturesque island. It has clever subplots, drama, action and suspense, and zany characters that entices the reader to follow along as Katie continues to renovate the jumbie house with a series of mysterious mishaps, navigates her roller coaster love life with Nick and a crazy stalker named Brad in pursuit, and tries to stay one step ahead of trouble that always seems to follow her. And if that isn't enough for you, it has some heartfelt and emotional romance and friendship thrown in the mix.

Leaving Annalise is part of a thoroughly entertaining romantic mystery series. Author Pamela Fagan Hutchins has a way of keeping the readers captivated with Katie's latest adventures, and oh by the way, there is more adventures in the works when Finding Harmony, book three in the series is published in February 2014!
