About the Author

Lisa Chibbaro was born in South Carolina; however, for over thirty-five years she has lived in Tennessee, so she considers herself a native. She lives in Jackson, Tennessee, where she spends time helping others, painting, writing, reading, and piddling with her flowers. Lisa hopes that Maisy's journey will help children and adults realize that God has a plan for each of us. She prays that Maisy reaches everyone that needs her to help them understand they, too, have wings. Beautiful wings. Lisa received her bachelor's degree from the University of Memphis and her master's from Bethel University. She has one daughter, who makes her proud every day. Lisa is a breast cancer survivor whose secret weapons are faith and tutus. It is a lot harder to be depressed when you wear a tutu to treatment. This is Lisa's first book, and she looks forward to sharing the lessons that Maisy teaches her friends in the future. Maisy has already taught Lisa so much and helped her find her own wings.

Heather Grisham is an artist from Jackson, Tennessee. She is the mother of five children and a SIDS survivor. Heather is a self-taught artist and primarily a portrait painter, painting people and animals. Her grandmother encouraged her at an early age, buying paint-by-number oil sets for her. Her work can be found online, as well as in the AFG 2019 Art Book Issue 1, The Times of India, and many other places. Heather and Lisa have known each other for over thirty years, but Leaving the Cocoon was their first collaboration. They're planning more projects together!
