Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Trina Heidt
Lebanon is currently one of the lesser known of the Middle Eastern countries but it is filled with fascinating historical and cultural treasures relevant to our world today. It is populated by an interesting and diverse population and it holds its own alongside more advanced countries in terms of literacy and education. Situated on the Mediterranean Sea, it is a tiny piece of land stuck basically between the Western world and that of the East. Because of its location and its varied history, Lebanon has played and continues to hold an important place in the history of our world. For children, countries other than their own tend be very mysterious and exotic. This book takes the opportunity to answer common questions in an effort to bring simple understanding regarding the chosen country. "Chapters" are each two pages long and begin with one basic question about the country at hand. Readers will learn briefly about the history of the country, government, holidays, food, culture and people. The book also contains fast facts, native phrases, glossary, related internet sites, and further reading suggestions. It is recommended as a very helpful and interesting resource. Part of the "Questions and Answers Countries" series. Reviewer: Trina Heidt
