Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 7 Up-An informative but dry account of the Solidarity movement and of Walesa's role in it. Vnenchak does a thorough job of relating the country's problems over the last 24 years. However, Walesa is only mentioned in the context of his political functions and little attention is paid to his personal life. Thus, this is not truly a biography as, unfortunately, the dust jacket suggests. The black-and-white photographs grouped in the center of the book are informative; the glossary is excellent. Students needing information on Solidarity and on recent political developments in Poland will find this volume useful; those wanting more details of Walesa's life should try Tony Kaye's Lech Walesa (Chelsea, 1989).-Margaret B.
