Led Zeppelin Dazed & Confused: The Stories behind Every Song

( 1 )

Overview

Led Zeppelin remains one of the most revered rock bands ever to hit the world stage. Central figures in the decadent rock scene of the 1970s and '80s, they paved the way for some of the most influential bands of the era. From their blues-inspired debut, through their exploration of folk roots and British mythology, to the progressive rock of the early '70s and the stadium-arena heavy metal of the late '70s, their nine albums chronicle 12 years at the top.

In Led Zeppelin Dazed and Confused, a music journalist who toured with the band at their peak explores the creative context that shaped these classic albums. Treating each of the band's songs in chronological order, he reveals all the influences, recording details, methods, and symbolism behind the arrangements and lyrics.

Fans may think they know classics such as "Stairway to Heaven," "When the Levee Breaks," or "Black dog," but are they familiar with the moving and sometimes bizarre stories behind these recordings? Chris Welch provides a wealth of little-known facts, quirky details, and studio tales that, taken together, paint a stimulating picture of the decadence of the period -- the tours, the heavy living, and the price the band paid for their incredible success.

Since Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's phoenix-like reemergence in the early '90s, with MTV's Unplugged sessions and the band's record-breaking tours, Led Zeppelin has once again become one of the world's biggest concert draws. Two Led Zeppelin movies are gearing up for production, and interest in this enigmatic band is as high as ever. This is one of the only books that deals with their music in detail.

If you were to buy one zepp book, this is the one...

Having reading 4 zeppelin books, 'dazed & confused' just has to be the best with it's stunning photographs on each member of the band and information on every song they ever did! I am 16 and try to keep that 70's feel to my fav' band by listening to many of their bootlegs released throughout their career (bootlegs can be found in dodgy music stores, not mainstream stores!) This book has really helped me gain information on the band and their music and I sujest that if you are a zepp fan or a rock/hard rock music fan to buy it! This might not be the correct place to write this but I live in W.Midlands, about 20 miles from Redditch where Bonzo was born! Any fellow zeppheads wanna get in touch? E-mail me and i'd be glad to write back
