Overview

Fans of the hugely successful Left Behind saga wanting a fix between the release of the eighth volume in the apocalyptic book series and the launch of the Left Behind movie will welcome this all-star soundtrack album. Hitting stores well in advance of the film's 2001 theatrical release -- a tactic employed to great success by the folks behind The Prince of Egypt -- the album puts a musical spin on Left Behind's best-loved characters, who get musical tributes from the likes of Avalon, Bob Carlisle, Rebecca St. James, and Kathy Troccoli. While many of the tracks are new, the disc also includes several previously-released hits that one hopes capture the gist of the project: Michael W. Smith's "Never Been Unloved"; R&B/soulster Clay Crosse's fantastic "No Fear"; Third Day's 1999 hit, "Sky Falls Down." But the album's real selling points is its new material. Fans of breakout boy band Plus One will be delighted to hear a new offering from them, "I Need A Miracle," while the pairing of Bryan Duncan and ShineMK on the film's main theme is positively inspired. All in all, not a bad way to greet the end of days.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The soundtrack to Left Behind features songs from CCM artists such as Third Day, Joy Williams, Kathy Troccoli, and Fred Hammond. Bob Carlisle's "After All (Rayford's Song)," Larue's "Fly (Chloe's Song)," Michael W. Smith's "Never Been Unloved (Bruce's Song)," and Jake's "Believer (Buck's Song)" relate to the key characters in the film, which is an adaptation of the best-selling book series about the end times by Tim F. Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Bryan Duncan & Shine's "Left Behind -- The Theme Song," V*Enna's "Take Me All the Way to Heaven," and selections from the score round out this entertaining and uplifting companion to the film and books.
