Alas, while it has a catchy title and good graphics design, this book is not, as the publisher claims, a step by step guide to writing a family history, at least in my opinion. I found it to be more like a Freshman 101 writing class. You know, probe your innermost thoughts and go back to the days when... One thing I found downright annoying was the lack of relationship between the photographs and the text. The pictures were apparently chosen to set a mood rather than inform (the families who loaned them did get credit up front). All in all, Legacy was a disappointment. If you really want a step by step guide to writing a family history, check out the Dummies book. It stresses the importance of such present day realitites as word processors and the Internet for research, etc., etc., which this book does not.
