Overview

This two-volume collection presents an overview of the widespread significance of Schumpeter's thought. Following an introduction in which Hanusch (economics, U. of Augsburg) presents a short biography and discusses Schumpeter's scientific work and intellectual legacy, Volume I contains 25 contributions that examine the reception accorded his ideas by his contemporaries, the impact of his scientific ideas from the 1950s to the 1970s, and the renewed influence of his thought in the 1980s. Volume II comprises 17 contributions that highlight the importance of his ideas on modern macroeconomic theories and demonstrate the influence of his thought in other fields such as public finance, sociology, politics and history. Contributions were originally published between 1943 and 1996. The volumes lack a subject index. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
