    Practical advice based on Scripture

Legacy of Love: Biblical Wisdom for Parenting Teens and Young Adults is the fourth entry in the Life-Nurturing Love series by Kimberly Hahn. Earlier titles deal with marriage, homemaking, and family life. The series, based on Proverbs 31: 10-31 grew out of bible study Hahn has offered to students at Franciscan University. Legacy of Love's 15 chapters are grouped under the following sections: 1. She Opens Her Hand to the Poor (Prv 31:20) 2. She Looks Well to the Ways of Her Household (Prv 31:27) 3. She Does Not Eat the Bread of Idleness (Prv 31:27) 4. Her Children Rise Up and Call Her Blessed (Prv 31:28) 5. Her Husband Also, and He Praises Her (Prv 31:28) 6. A Woman Who Fears the Lord Is To Be Praised (Prv 31:30) Appendixes include outlines to accompany the video version of the book; questions for intergenerational women's study; and "Radical Hospitality: An invitation to Share Life Together. Hahn also offers recommended resources and chapter notes. Throughout, Hahn provides examples from her own experience and that of others she has met through her ministry of writing and speaking on family matters from the viewpoint of the bible and Church teaching. Following is a practice Kimberly and her husband Scott developed while parenting their six children. Their Day of Jubilee is based on the Israelites' requirement that all debts be forgiven every seven years. Kimberly describes the day of jubilee in the Hahn household as a time when a teen could confess sin without fear of punishment. After their father told his sons about the opportunity they tested it by coming separately to Scott and making a confession. Scott assured them they would not be punished. The teens have never taken advantage of the offer, Kimberly writes, and when a confession to Scott indicates that sacramental confession is needed too, he helps the teen locate a priest.
