Dr. Huffer's book, Legal Abuse Syndrome, is among the most outstanding self-help books I have ever read. It will become a life-saver for many readers. This book a "must read" for people living in the emotional abyss of anger, shame and outrage caused by Lawyers, Judges, and betrayal by the inept legal system the victims trusted for justice. Dr. Huffer's book is sheer brilliance - she is a pioneer who cued in on a poorly understood area of traumatic emotional abuse. As she explains, Legal Abuse Syndrome is a form of PTSD; it is inflicted upon trusting, conscience ridden citizens by members of the Legal System. She writes of Lawyers who betray and victimize their own clients, Judges who abuse their power with impunity, and the corruption inherent in our own Legal System.
Dr. Huffer addresses the despair, frustration and rage of LAS victims, the adverse impact on their lives, the economic shambles they are left with, and long-term relationships lost by victims (due to neglect, shame, betrayal, and continued legal abuse by this form of PTSD.) Most important, Dr. Huffer offers solutions to sufferers she calls "the walking dead." She takes us through an eight step program towards healing. The reader will gain insight into his/her suffering, higher clarity, validation, and hopefully, be able to return to the person they once were, yet empowered for the future, after absorbing the knowledge imparted by Dr. Huffer.
Dr. Huffer's book on LAS should become required reading for every Law School Student, and existing Lawyers, Court Officers and Judges. I cannot overemphasize the merits of this book - it is a lifeline offering a way out of the emotional prison of LAS sufferers.
