Overview

When Elle Ison finally flees from a five-year abusive relationship, she finds that freedom is still just beyond her grasp. She has no place to run, no money and no options.
That is until a band of mysterious, good-looking heroes come to her rescue, sweeping Elle up into the world of ani-shifts, humans with the ability to shift into animal form. Elle becomes mesmerized by the magic of their world--one she believed only existed in her imagination--and the mystery surrounding the Lake family. Especially the intimidating Asher Lake who is charged with leading the secret organization of shifters known as the Union, and the protégés left in his care.
Elle is lost and lonely--and wants nothing more than to be part of a real family, even one as broken and dysfunctional as the Lakes. But if Elle chooses to stay, she must bind herself all over again--this time by archival laws which dictate that she make a commitment to a man who has vowed never to fall in love. For Elle, this means forfeiting the one dream she has never realized.
Elle must weigh her options: should she give in and relinquish her right to dream of love...or will she leave the safety of Lake Manor behind, along with the family she has come to care for--and never look back.

**This is my second time reading this series so far:)) **If you haven’t read the first book Call Of The Raven.....You'll want to read it first, since Legend Of The Raven picks up where it left off.** There are a few added characters in this book...some you will like...and some not so much. Asher is still the same hottie I fell in love with in the first book but he’s making a lot of changes in this book....He striving to be a better brother, father figure, and Keeper of the Union. Unlike most books the change is not instanteously...throughout the book you can see the subtle changes over time. Asher’s not the only one changing....his attitude/behavior affects every single person in his immediate circle of family and friends. They all are adjusting to the changes and really start to come together as a real family in this book. I really love this well written series that has about everything....action, drama, mystery, romance....and hotties too!!

The second of The Union series continues to show us the dynamics of the Lake family ani-shifting world. As the characters develop we learn to care for them and to understand the trials and tribulations of their lives. There is the Keeper, Asher, who is handsome and funny. His peaceful life within himself, where he is safe from the call of the raven, is set spinning as his real need and desire for love begin to take a toll on him. Slowly he begins to open up to his family and he tries desperately to shut out the girl of his dreams (literally) Elle. As the uprising within his world becomes more apparent, he becomes more active in his role as leader and, with that, those who want to destroy him, begin their journey of betrayal. And just to throw another log in the fire the twins find their own mischief while Nixon and Ari hone their flirting skills on Elle, which confuses her and enrages Asher. Thoroughly entertaining, no dull spots...and you don't have to wait long for Book Three.
