''Legends Of The Fall'' is another masterpiece from Horner. I myself have not seen the film, but have listened to the score many times. The different themes created for each character are beautiful in thier own right, and the final track, where all the melodies come together, is simply amazing. Track 5, Samuel's Death, is a very powerful piece of music. About 1 1/2 minutes into it is some of the best music I've heard on any soundtrack - period. From the very first track you will fall in love with this score. It came out in 1995, along with two other great Horner works, Braveheart and Apollo 13. It is sad this album is so overlooked. It ranks just below Braveheart as one of my favorite Horner albums ever. Without any doubt, if you enjoy Horner, but have never heard this album, buy it. You will not regret it.

REALLY LET ME DOWN, I WAS EXPECTING GREATNESS BUT GOT SOMETHING AVERAGE. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING NEW OR ORIGINAL DON'T BOTHER. MUSIC IS THE SAME AS THE MOVIE DECENT, NOT GREAT, BUT WITH A GOOD ENDING.

I bought this cd in 1995 after seeing the movie for the first time. It is the first time I had ever really noticed classical music in a movie, and especially felt moved by it. It also got me interested in other scores. Ten years later, I still adore the music. For those of you who've listened to Titanic or Braveheart, you'll notice some similar themes between the three scores. Samuel's Death and Descent into Madness are both truly evocative of the things grief can do to a person. When nothing else will comfort me I throw in this cd, and am always feeling better afterwards

I only recently discovered Horner and his genius for beautiful haunting music. Now, I have discovered another of his overlooked masterpieces, The Legends of the Fall. Horner does it again, and again and again, masterpiece after masterpiece, then just when you don't think he can outdo himself, he creates a masterpiece that beats them all. Legends of the Fall is a haunting, powerful, flow of music that uncanningly matches the film step for step. Here is music as beautiful as the filming that won an Academy Award for the film. The second track, "The Ludlows" should have won an Oscar also. Some of his albums such as "The Missing" and "Enemy at the Gates" are worth purchasing just for the ending final track, but with the soundtrack for Legends of the Fall, there are few tracks that won't keep you from playing them over and over again.
