L'Accord de 1993 en vue de promouvoir l'application des mesures internationales de conservation et de gestion par les navires de peches en haute mer, et l'Accord de 1995 relatif a la mise en 'uvre des dispositions de la Convention des Nations Unies sur le Droit de la Mer du 10 decembre 1982,portant sur la conservation et la gestion des stocks de poissons chevauchants et des stocks de poissons grands migrateurs sont les deux principales conventions internationales ayant pour but de promouvoir une peche durable. Cette publication, la premiere dans la collection Droit, Justice et Developpement, aide a comprendre les sujets difficiles qui doivent etre traites lors de la transformation des obligations de ces instruments complexes en droit national et donnent les exemples de techniques de redaction legislative que differents pays ont utilises.

Les auteurs sont d'eminents experts en la matiere. William Edeson est l'ancien Conseiller Juridique Superieur de l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'Alimentation et l'Agriculture. Il a travaille et ecrit de nombreuses publications sur le Droit de la Peche et le Droit de la Mer. Elly Gudmundsdottir etait Conseiller a la Banque Mondiale, et David Freestone est le Conseiller en Chef de l'Unite du Droit de l'Environnement et Droit International de la Banque Mondiale. David Freestone est co-editeur en chef du 'International Journal of Marine and Coastal Law'. Il est aussi membre du Comite d'Editeurs du 'British Yearbook of International Law' et egalement du Comite Consultatif d'Editeurs du 'Yearbook of International Environmental Law'.
