So, apparently this is one of the best Legion Of Super-Heroes stories ever. Wow! That's a sad state of affairs for a book since this isn't good. First off, the collection is massive and much more than jus the "Great Darkness Saga". The storylines before the Darkseid tale were rough. Bad villains, bad politics, and as usual for this team, ridiculous names for characters. I just don't know how these characters can be found interesting and not a joke. These thoughts aren't just based on the book being from the 80s. I grew up in the 80s. But this just has no substance. As for the main LOH tale, the inclusion of a huge DC villain ups the story but its all over the place. No idea why he attacks, why he uses the methods he does, why he shows up in the 30th century, or why he was able to be defeated how he was. Now, the saving grace for the book is Keith Giffen's pencils which were way ahead of their time. Yes, the style then held artists back but he steals the show here and keeps the book afloat. Overall, its interesting to see what is considered great because this is lacking. Severely.
