The story is actually a good one, but the story teller is sloppy

The story is actually a good one, but the story teller is sloppy -- as
are, I think the editors of this book. At times I wondered if this was
a translation from another language and the translator doesn't quite
understand the tenses of English language. I found myself pausing on a
much too regular basis to figure out what the right word would be
instead of the one provided in the text. The writing also seems a
little jerky and the main characters underdeveloped. I found myself
wishing the author had co-written this with someone like David Drake,
David Weber, Eric Flint or even Elizabeth Moon. Had he done so a worthy
plot would have been properly and richly developed.

Legions of Orion is action packed

Mr. Thomas deffinately rates to be watched as a writer with potential. I could have wished for more background story to better understand the dynamics between characters. Loved the action, and the possible directions the story line can go. Space battles, ground battles, politics and ancient aliens.

A very good first novel that takes the series of in a new direct

A very good first novel that takes the series of in a new direction. The science is toned down from the first series but instead we get greater variety of plots, aliens and high-tech weapons. I love the way the time gap omits the need to cover Jack's childhood.. Something tell's me Mr Thomas is no fan of children!

    Good Read

As others have pointed out, the editing is slopy. That said, the Star Crusades story continues. Can't wait for next installment.
