Lemonade for the Lawn Boy

5.0 1
by David W. Cook, Janet Letnes Martin

This hilarious new book is the story of 16 'upper crust' ladies who live in a world where vanity is not a sin. 'The days of their lives' revolved around them, their cash, their country club, their clothes, their condition, their Cadillac, the click of their compacts, and, of course, their right-hand man and handsome hero, The Lawnboy.

Set in the early 1960's

Overview

This hilarious new book is the story of 16 'upper crust' ladies who live in a world where vanity is not a sin. 'The days of their lives' revolved around them, their cash, their country club, their clothes, their condition, their Cadillac, the click of their compacts, and, of course, their right-hand man and handsome hero, The Lawnboy.

Set in the early 1960's when Jackie Kennedy and Julia Childs helped to define the world in which they lived, or aspired to live' these ladies (who were oftentimes bored and in need of being entertained), decided to publish a cookbook to 1) showcase their recipes and let the world know about the importance; and 2) raise funds for the La La La La Lipstick Ball, which in turn raised money for their chosen charity.

I went through ¿Lemonade for the Lawnboy¿ in a single sitting! I thoroughly enjoyed it! The insight to and character development of each one of these ladies was incredible and fascinating to read. I can¿t honestly tell you what I expected¿that it would be funny, certainly, and it was, very but the depth to which the author developed the characters, the life she gave them, was remarkable. I even intend to try a few of the recipes! And David¿s illustrations are amazing! They are worth the price of the book alone! What a great book!
