About the Author

Ann Brown, the former editor of the Arizona Daily Star’s Editorial Page and of Caliente, the Star’s weekly entertainment section, is a part-time copy editor at the Star. Ann, who is an award-winning soccer-banner maker and expert orange slicer, spent about 25 years on the sidelines of soccer games, cheering and watching her two now grown children play. “Lena Joins the Team” is her first fictional work for children.

Chiara Bautista is a graphic designer and illustrator with the Arizona Daily Star. Born and raised in Hermosillo, Sonora, México, Chiara has been working for newspapers for more than 15 years and her hobbies include painting and reading. Mexican wedding cookies are her all time favorites.
