Meet the Author

Robert Toth has served as the executive director of The Merton Institute for Contemplative Living since 1998. He is the editor of the Contemplation and Action newsletter and wrote the foreword to Thomas Merton: An Introduction by William H. Shannon.

Jonathan Montaldo is resident director of Bethany Spring, the Merton Institute Retreat Center one mile from the Abbey of Gethsemani, and is associate director of the Merton Institute for Contemplative Living. He has authored or co-authored many books, including Thomas Merton: In My Own Words and Choosing to Love the World: Thomas Merton on Contemplation.
