Leopard’s Prey

From a tough stint in the armed forces to stalking the unknown as a bayou cop, leopard shifter Remy Boudreaux has been served well by his uncanny gifts. And right now, New Orleans could use a homicide detective like Remy.

A serial killer is loose, snatching victims from the French Quarter with pitiless rage and unnatural efficiency. But something else is drawing Remy into the twilight—a beautiful jazz singer bathed night after night in a flood of bloodred neon.

Sultry, mysterious and as seductive as her songs, she’s luring Remy deeper into the shadows than he ever imagined. And as their passions swell, his keen instinct for survival will be challenged like never before. By a killer—and by a woman.

I have read all of Christines Leopard series and this one is just as good as the others. I loved reading Remys story, & loved that we got to see some of the others from her other books. This book could be a stand alone, but i recomend reading her other Leopard Series books to, it makes you enjoy this book that much more when you are familar with all the characters. A Great Read!

We met Saria Boudreux’s brothers in Savage Nature.  Homicide cop, leopard-shifter Remy Boudreux is the oldest and on the hunt for a serial killer that threatens everyone he loves and their way of life.  It is not the best time for a big eyed waif from their past to return to the bayou and steal his heart but that is exactly what happens in this wonderful new addition to Christine Feehans’ Leopard series.  This book has all the fast paced adventure, mind bending mystery and steamy romance you expect from Ms. Feehan.

I have read every one of Christine Feehan's books. It's easy to figure out her style. Sometimes her penchant for too much discriptive detail detracts from the story and some scenes drag out too long. Except for her previous book to this one, I have enjoyed every book. This one included.

Once the action starts it is fast paced and thrilling. However, half of the book is setting up the back story. I thought this could have been accomplished a bit faster. That does not mean it wasn't engaging story. I absolutely love the hero Remy and the heroine Bijou. Remy is a tough, protective and a take charge homicide detective the kind of man you want covering your back in a dangerous situation. He is insightful. He is one of the few to see behind the mask that Bijou wears to protect herself. However,Remy for all those qualities is clueless in expressing how he fells about Bijou. Bijou, although young has comes through the fires of her life stronger. She finally has to comes to terms as to who she is and what she wants from life. There are a few surprises on her horizon . She handles them well. Bijou is the type of woman that will fight for her man and admire that about her. The villains definitely got theirs in the end.

Book 6 in the Leopard series by Christine Feehan was good, I liked Bijou. I also enjoyed returning to the Boudreaux family and enjoyed how the brothers harassed Remy. The antagonist was really hard to spot until the very end, which is always good, I hate being able to figure out who the bad guy is before the main characters do. I was sad to find out who it ended up being, but Feehan did do a good job of keeping the antagonist under wraps until she was ready for the reader to know. It wasn't my favorite in the series, it was kind of average in the grand scheme of the Leopard series. I think Drake's, Jake's, and Rio's books were better and kept my interest throughout the story. That is not to say I didn't enjoy this installment. If you are reading the series, or plan to, don't skip it, it is still worth reading and you will not get bored. I am going to start book 7 immediately, though I am disappointed that I don't recognize the characters in book 7. I want more with the Boudreaux brothers, especially Gage :-) so I hope she has plans to return to New Orleans and that family. Overall, this was a good read, if a bit on the average side. I really like Remy and the backstory between him and Bijou. Their romance was an explosive and passionate one. I am glad to see that Bijou finally ended up with a family that will care about her and support her (because her dad would have never earned the father-of-the-year award) and the people that were around her were around her only for what they could get out of being "friends" with her. I am happy for her happy ending.

He's mean, she's weak. If the leopards are all about taking care of their women and children, why doesn't he treat her as if he cares about her, instead of f%$#'g her and leaving her alone. And she has such low self-esteem she lets him get away with it! Not much of a relationship.

Leopard’s Prey is the latest in Christine Feehan’s Leopard’s series. I think that Christine can write paranormal romance like no one else. I always enjoy her books every time I read them. I do have to say that when this story started, I was a little worried. It starts off a little cheesy, but it recovers well. I also think that she goes a little overboard technically in this story. I feel as if she is trying to prove that she has researched the subject matter thoroughly, and in doing so, gets too technical. As a paranormal romance reader I read for the story and the romance. I don’t want to be bogged down in details about rock climbing equipment and the procedures of police work. That being said, I really enjoyed this installment of the series. As I said, Christine can write romance. Her scenes are steamy without being raunchy and she knows how to define the fine line between overbearing man and loving hero. I also love the fact that even though Remy is the “white knight”, Bijou is also strong and capable in her own right. Another refreshing point to this story is the fact that the push and pull between characters felt right. So often when reading romance, there is all this tension and uncertainty between the romantic leads and then all of a sudden, the two people who were so unsure about each other in the previous chapter realize that they are the love of each other’s lives. In this story there was plenty of sex, intrigue, suspense and action. Leopard’s Prey is a really enjoyable read.
