Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathie M. Josephs
What a great idea! Take a scientific concept, mix it with a super hero who can shrink to the size of an atom, add fantastic graphics, write the story in a way that is easy to understand, and put it all together in a thirty-two page, reader-friendly book. The graphic novel format makes this the perfect choice for students who are reluctant readers and never seem to finish a book on their own. Young adults who want to read anything they can get their hands on will also enjoy the graphics and fast-paced text. The full-color graphics make an enormous impact on the story. Red boxes with pertinent vocabulary words and their meanings are included throughout the book. The vocabulary has been well-selected and this book is an excellent resource that could be used for writing a summary, writing a book report, or doing research. Max takes the reader to a science classroom where he is the guest speaker. He covers items from how to correctly pick up broken glass to what to do in case of a burn. A section entitled "More Science Safety" provides additional information at the book's end. Also includes a glossary, an index, and a list of related books and Internet sites. This book should be in all science classrooms, school libraries, and home reference collections. I highly recommend this book.
