This book is a book that every parent needs to read over and over,maybe daily. How often we find ourselves annoyed by the things we, as parents, need to do for our children again and again. But what if you knew the last time you braided her hair, sorted through the school papers, washed jelly off his face and kissed him on the nose, were to be the last time you did those things? Wouldn't you see them in a whole different light? This book will make you see every moment as a parent for what it is, a true gift that not all who live get to experience. I ordered 9 copies and I'm sure I'll be ordering more. It is the most perfect gift you can give another parent.

One of the BEST books I have read!

I am a mother of 3 boys. I always buy them books for birthdays, holidays and just because. I sign each of their books with a personal note from me because we keep books and I use the signing of the books instead of cards. I found this book last year and was crying half way through it in the store. I believe this book describes perfectly how parents feel about their children growing up. Those 1st are very special, but their lasts are the most precious. It gave me a greater appreciation for the brief time we have together on earth and being present in the moment. I read this book with them often, especially during those very frustrationg days that we can all have when raising kids. They call it "Mommy's Crying Book" because I cry EVERYTIME I read it. It reminds me of "the Big Picture" and what is most important in life-my kids.

Tear Jerker & A Must Buy

My son's school had a mommy and me tea party yesterday and before it started they told us where the tissue box was because we would definitly shed a tear before the day was over. The teacher pulled out this book and began reading. The teacher was crying and so was every mom in the room. The story is lovely and about how we should cherish every moment with our child. I absolutely LOVE this book and I can't wait to purchase it and give it to other moms for Mother's Day!

Great for first time parents!!

This book makes me cry everytime I read it to my son. I get this book for every baby shower that I'm invited to and it's a great gift for first time parents. Every copy that is in the book store (which is usually limited) I'm probably the one always taking it off the selves.

For those of us with kids we understand that life is full of "lasts." The last time you feed your child a bottle. The last time you're allowed to give your child a kiss in public, etc. This book really reminds you to pay attention to the things you love about your kids. There may come a time when you don't see those particular things anymore. It reminds you to cherish the moments.

This is a must buy book for yourself as well as any other parent you know!!!

A wonderful meaningful read

Not a childrens' book although the cover looks like it might be. I bought three of these and gave them to my adult children for Christmas. The book is about "lasts" - the last time your child played a Little League game, the last time a tooth was placed under a pillow, the last time your child threw him/herself into your arms for a lift into the air. It is a poignant reminder that we don't realize that we are experiencing the "lasts" until they are well behind us. All three of my adult kids, who are now parents themselves, found the book an emotional "remembering" time and read the story aloud to their own not-so-young children and experienced touching moments of remembering together.

A Must Have Book for Any Parent

This is one of the most beautiful books I have read in a long time. If you are a parent or know any parents this book is a must have. It makes you realize that life goes by so quickly and our children grow up in the blink of an eye. We celebrate their firsts but we should also cherish their lasts.

I have two children and this book really spoke to my heart. I have since lent this book to my family and friends to read too.

This would make a beautiful baby shower gift or a gift for new parents too.

It tugs on your heart...

I was introduced to this book during a parenting class and we knew we had to have it. The story focuses on how a parent while enjoying the first time their child reaches a milestone reminds us to also remember the last time they do something and how we need to hold on to those moments as well. It goes from their first steps to when they leave the nest and all those events in between. It's fun to read with your child, and it will remind you how quickly they will grow up. Most of the illustrations show Mom as the key person interacting with her son, but Dads and daughters can relate to the story.

As I said in the headline, this story tugs on your heart and it doesn't matter whether your child is a baby, toddler, high school, or college. Any parent can relate to this story and will probably choke up when they read it. It's what every parent thinks...let me have this moment with my child for just a little while longer. I would recommend it to parents to not only read with their children as it gives you that moment with them, but to also read it when your child has those "not so fun" moments to remind you that time with your child, no matter what the situation, is time you will remember to treasure.

One of the best books ever!

This book is one of my all-time favorites. Everyone should have it! For parents with children of ANY age, it is an important reminder of how fast the time goes by, and we need to cherish every day. I keep mine by my bed and try to read it regularly! I've given it to friends with young children, as well as my sister, who had a son going off to college. Without a doubt, it will touch your heart.

A Must Own Book for Parents

My daughter just recently turned 1 and received this book as a gift. As she is my 3rd and last child, this book definitely makes you appreciate your children, and reminds you to treasure every moment with them. I would highly recommend that all parents own a copy. Be sure to have a box of Kleenex ready though!!

A Must Have for Mothers Everywhere

I found this book touching. My son and daughter loved the pictures and I could not stop crying. It is a keepsake for sure and I recommend this as a gift to new mothers before the 'Lasts' past them by. The Last Kiss, The Last Lost Tooth, The Last time they crawl into your lap so you can rock them to sleep, I remember all the Firsts in their lives but do not recall the lasts. Although some have already passed us by. What a wonderful book to stop a stressful, fast paced life to reflect on what matters the most.

For all the caregivers not just the parents this is the perfect

For all the caregivers not just the parents this is the perfect gift. It is an absolute keeper! As you read the events depicted will definitely resonate whether you are at the beginning, middle or end of your caregiving journey. Especially poignant for all the "Moms" who have loved at every turn. Get out the tissues, you can't get through this book without them. Then head to the store and you'll have your Mother's/Father's Day gift taken care of this year - May 13th, 2012/June 17th, 2012. Don't forget all the other caregivers in your life!

Not impressed this time.

Love Karen Kingsbury books, but not this on. It is well illistrated, and the concept of the book is great. I just expected more. I do highly recommend all of the other 25 Kingsbury books I have read so far.

This is a wonderfully written, touching book. We should treausure every moment we have with our kids, they are so precious!

Let Me Hold You Longer by Karen Kingsbury

Excellent book. I purchased two of these books for my grandchildren. Such a precious book for the little ones by one of my very favorite authors, Karen Kingsbury. Wonderful! Awesome, should be a part of of every parent's library.
