    Surprising book

Emilie Richards has a great sense of humor and you can see it come to life in her Ministry is Murder series. I have finally purchased Let There Be Suspects to add to my collection. She not only can make you see the story through her words and let you laugh at the her characters, you also can solve the mystery and hopefully get it right before her heroine Aggie does. Great read!

Murder and Family Rivalry at Christmas

It¿s almost Christmas, and Aggie Sloan-Wilcox¿s mom, June, and sisters, Sid and Vel, arrive for a holiday family reunion. Only Aggie arrives with their former foster sister Ginger. Ginger and Sid get along like vinegar and water. Ginger is very manipulative and controlling while coming off as sweet to those who don¿t know her so well. Unfortunately June has always seen the sweet side of her. Sid has been Ginger¿s victim too many times to see the sweet side. Sid and Ginger¿s rivalry surfaces immediately, and when Ginger turns up dead, Sid is the logical suspect. Aggie knows Sid couldn¿t have killed her, so she sets out to find the real murderer before the police arrest Sid. Can she do so without putting herself or her family in danger? And without putting her husband¿s position in jeopardy? Aggie is a fun character. The fact that she is a pastor¿s wife really adds to her sleuthing. Her family and all their quirks really adds to the story. Often families get lost in the story as the mother sleuths. Not so in this series. And the sub-plots don¿t detract from the story at all. In fact they enhance it and make it a well crafted mystery with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing to the end. I highly recommend this book and the whole series.

    A fantastic amateur sleuth tale

She is not the typical minister¿s wife as she was raised by a bohemian mother who kept her and her sisters moving from one show or Renaissance Fair to another. As a result of her childhood, Aggie Sloan-Wilcox and her two sisters are very tight with one another. With Christmas approaching, Aggie¿s siblings and their mother Janice are coming to the parsonage for the holidays.------------------ Everyone is shocked when Janice brings Ginger, the foster sister the others hate for her spitefulness when they were growing up together. The animosity is strong by the time Sid tosses Ginger into a punch bowl because as always Ginger makes a play for Sid¿s boyfriend kissing him. On Christmas Eve, Ginger¿s murdered body is found near the Nativity scene and Sid is the prime suspect. Aggie knows no one except Ginger¿s husband Cliff mourns her death. Using that assumption as a starting point, Aggie investigates the homicide because she believes Sid is innocent and plans to prove it by catching the culprit, who is willing to kill again.----------------- Emilie Richards, well known for her romance and women¿s fiction novels writes a fantastic amateur sleuth tale that excels in realistic characterizations. There are plenty of humorous scenes especially when the heroine¿s family arrives to disrupt domestic tranquility. The victim was so universally disliked everyone wanted her dead, but with an overabundance of possibilities Aggie has no problem with LET THERE BE SUSPECTS only with who went so far as to commit homicide.---------------- Harriet Klausner
