Irene Hannon is an author that when her books arrive at my house, I don't do anything else until I've started (and usually finished) the book. Her books have character I love in jobs I found fascinating. Lethal Legacy is no exception. In this book, Kelly Warren is determined that her father did not commit suicide. By a twist of bad timing Cole Taylor is the detective who meets with her when she finds new evidence. The more they talk he wonders if she's on to something. Then she has an accident due to a food allergy. From there the action picks up to full speed. This story not only lets us into the hero and heroine's heads. We also get glimpses into a couple of the bad guys. This is a book that will keep you up as you try to read just one more page in the race to find the truth, catch the bad guy, and just maybe fall in love along the way.

I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. I also enjoyed the other books written by this author. The story kept me on the edge of my seat or entertained the entire time. There weren't any slow parts. My only warning is do not start this book at night unless you plan on staying up. There is no good stopping point. The romance that is intertwined throughout the story is based on respect, intellegence, and a common relationship with God. I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable with any inappropriate language or intimacy. I highly recommend this book as a clean romantic suspense.

I really enjoyed this series and this was my favorite. The storyline was interesting right from the start and kept me interested until the end. I enjoy books that tell a good story without all the bad language that some authors feel is necessary.

She has done it again. Her stories are filled with believable characters that you immediately care about. The plots are well thought out. A top notch author.

Irene Hannon has done it again. Written another fantastic book that keeps you on the edge of each page up until the end. One thing I was thankful for was that the "who-dunn-it" guy was revealed early in the story as it was clearly evident early on who this character was. My first thought was that it was obvious and it was going to be a long book waiting for the other characters to figure it out. But thankfully the author revealed it shortly after.
On the romance end of it, it could have come down a few notches and been more centered on the mystery aspect, but it was better than previous books.

This followed the line of the awesome Guardians of Justice series. I love this book and the other two in this series. Irene Hannon is a fantastic writer. You feel such a part of this family in these books!!

I’ve picked up quite a few books this summer that haven’t grabbed me. I’ve been able to read a few pages and put them down without a hint of angst. Some of them I’ve finished, most I haven’t.
I read Lethal Legacy in one day.
I read a lot of romantic suspense and Irene Hannon is one of my favorite authors. Lethal Legacy, with its combination of murder, family drama, a Mafia don, a handsome detective, and a daughter fighting for her father’s name, did not disappoint.
The story was compelling enough to keep me turning the pages. Even after I knew who the bad guys were, I had to see how it would all play out.
The characters were well developed and realistic. They were people I’d like to get to know and hang out with. They had interesting quirks (I like quirks), flaws I could identify with, and strengths that I admire.
The faith element was woven in as seamlessly as I’ve seen in a while. It felt integral to the story without being preachy—and that is a line that is so easy to cross.

Kelly Warren lost her father five months ago. Although evidence points to suicide, and the police believe that to be the case, Kelly refuses to accept that. She is steadfast in her belief that her father was murdered, but with no apparent motive, the case has stalled. When she finds a small piece of evidence, there is enough doubt raised in the mind of Detective Cole Taylor to reopen the case. As they get closer to the answer, they also draw closer to one another. Will they be able to find the answer without losing their one chance at love?
In this third and last installment of the Guardians of Justice series, Irene Hannon has spun a spellbinder that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Although this is a series, it is not necessary to read the preceding installments in order to enjoy this book. The characters are believable, and while Kelly's Christian faith is clearly portrayed, it is not emphasized over the rest of the plot. A truly enjoyable read and worthy of 4 stars.

What a compelling read! Irene Hannon knows how people think, and she gets inside the heads of her characters. Early on, the reader can guess the identity of the villain. However, this only adds to the suspense as his twisted thought process is brought to light. The plot moves along at just the right pace.
The story contains romance aplenty. Although sexual tension is felt, Kelly and Cole demonstrate admirable constraint.
Sentence fragments bother me, but perhaps only me. The book is definitely worth your time, and I recommend it.
Although this novel is the third in a series, it can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.

Kelly Warren’s father, John Warren, died five months ago, and it was ruled a suicide by sleeping pills and alcohol overdose. Kelly was never able to accept that ruling. What she received in the mail was the proof that she was right. She wanted to approach Detective Alan Carlson with her new evidence, but he was on vacation.
Detective Cole Taylor was thus assigned to Carlson’s case. He’s attracted to Kelly’s wavy, russet-colored hair, emerald green eyes …, but gets caught looking at her when she questions him about what’s wrong. Cole determines to keep business separate from his social life. At least that has always been his rule of operation so he stays sharp and alert.
The evidence Kelly brought in was a box of tulip bulbs she received in the mail with a note from her dad about planting them together for her birthday, a note dated one day before he died. That note shows that Jack wasn’t suicidal, but Cole needed to check the case notes. Given the usual police comment–’I'll be in touch,’ Kelly returned home. However, upon checking the case notes, he determined that the probable evidence didn’t change the ruling, and Detective Cole had to break the news to Kelly. Was he keeping business and social commitments separate by going to her house to give her the news personally?
When an attempt on Kelly’s life occurs shortly after she starts digging into her father’s death, Detective Cole digs deeper and finds a long-held secret, and the danger escalates. Why does someone want Kelly dead? What’s the motive?
Ultimate suspense writer, Irene Hannon, in Lethal Legacy, brings us another high energy, double twisted set of circumstances, and additional evidence that indicates more is involved than first recognized. She does a great job of interweaving the threads of the evidence pointing to murder along with the additional action that is taking place behind the scenes that is initially covered up until further examination.
Irene has compelling characters that seem to take over every page, whether romantically or through perilous situations. Neither Detective Cole and his partners nor Kelly will rest till they find out the truth. Suspects are gleaned through the investigations, but proof is non-existent until a well-known name pops up. I was thrown for a loop when I found out about John Warren’s background. Never saw it coming. Though we know a lot of information, Irene is keenly able to keep up the suspense of proving any connection before Kelly’s life is in danger.
Police procedures, APBs, BOLO alerts, investigations, and sting operations were written with precise detail. Details of the well-know individual are played out superbly and yet painfully when it came to an estranged and strife-filled family relationship.
Kelly’s faith is a major part of her life, and though she is attracted to Detective Cole, she knows he must be a believer if she wants to pursue the relationship, but he has an angry, estranged relationship with God. How the author brings Cole back to his faith is done in such a manner as to expose the reader to the love and mercy of God.
Some of the action seemed to slow down at times, which was a little difficult to keep me interested, but Irene was able to pick up the pace again with new and critical circumstances.

Cole needs to catch the killer before he makes Kelly his next victim. As always with an Irene Hannon novel there is mounting suspense that seems to squeeze the breath out of you. In “Lethal Legacy” Ms. Hannon seems to have written her best story yet. Kelly’s life in great jeopardy and this thriller becomes more and more exciting with the last hundred pages being an extremely wild ride. All I can say is imagine going on a roller coaster ride. At the beginning there is just the climb to the top but once you get to the top and experience that first drop then it is nothing but twists, turns, upside down loops until the ride ends. This is what Ms. Hannon does to us as readers with this book.
In ”Lethal Legacy” the theme of family relationships, and how they can impact a person’s entire life, runs throughout the book—affecting both the good guys and the bad guys! Family matters—that’s a key message of this book. This is a fun read, it is a fast read, however I do not recommend starting this book late at night because it will cost you sleep as you will not want to put it down. Ms. Hannon is an excellent writer who knows how to twist your nerve endings as she tightens the suspense. I recommend this book, and everything else that Ms. Hannon has written, highly!!

Kelly Warren’s persistence in proving her father’s death was not a suicide puts her own life in danger. Working closely with Detective Cole Taylor, the pieces slowly come together. But will it be in time to prevent another murder? The story is well written, imaginative, and addicting. The characters are alive and vibrant through clever storytelling and changing circumstances. On her birthday, five months after her father's death, she receives a gift he bought the day before his death. Tulip bulbs, with a note telling her he looks forward to planting them with her. Would a man who was planning on killing himself, look forward to the future, it concreted her belief that he did not die at his own hands. Convincing the police is another story, but she has to try.
Cole Taylor, happened to be the detective who spoke with Kelly when she brought in the note that came with the bulbs. He tried to convince her that he would look into the case, but the lead detective was on vacation. Leaving there convinced nothing more will happen, she is truly sad knowing there has to be more that they just have not discovered. Encouraged by Detective Taylor to dig through her father's things for perhaps some information that could link him to something that might lead to murder, imagine her shock when she finds a picture of her parents at their wedding that has different names written on the back of the photo. This find will blow this case wide open. This find, and the attempt on her life at a local coffee shop.
This book was a grab you by the throat and hold your attention kind of story. You will not want to put it down! There is a great attraction between Kelly and Cole that will leave you hoping for a romance, and your heart will hurt as Kelly deals with discovering that her father had secrets. Riveting is the best word I can think to describe this book! 340 pages US $ 14.99 5 stars.
