Publishers Weekly
In Laurie’s enjoyable 10th Psychic Eye mystery (after 2011’s Vision Impossible), a visit from a disguised, terrified female attorney distracts Austin, Tex., psychic investigator Abby Cooper from the dismay she feels on realizing that her FBI agent fiancé, Dutch Rivers, thinks a gun makes a great engagement gift. Soon Abby and PI Candice Fusco, her best friend and business partner, are trying to unearth the truth about the disappearance of young mother Kendra Moreno, which Abby’s paranormal abilities tell her was an abduction and murder. The romance between Abby and Dutch continues to fall flat, but the connections of supportive friendship, effective teamwork, and tough love between Abby and Candice come through with sparkle and warmth. Abby works much better in this smaller, more female-centered plot than she does being sucked into big FBI gigs, and seeing her daily life as a psychic for hire adds depth to her character. Agent: Jim McCarthy, Dystel & Goderich Literary Management. (July)

A new client puts a damper on psychic Abby's (Vision Impossible) wedding plans. A young mother is missing, and Abby and her best friend Candice must focus if there's going to be any chance of saving her.
Kirkus Reviews
Further adventures of a psychic private investigator as she pursues her life's goals of solving mysteries and keeping her money out of the swear jar. Abby Cooper is the most successful psychic private investigator in town, although technically she's the only one in town. She and her closest friend and business partner Candice Fusco imagine they've built a reputation for themselves over the years. Although local law enforcement is more than a little dubious of Abby's job description, they're willing to cooperate with Candice because of her more feminine charms. The pair need help from the local law when a mysterious Ms. Smith contacts Abby in order to secure her help with a client who's retained her law services. Abby's more than game to help, but the elusive Ms. Smith refuses to disclose her client's name or even describe the case. Abby and Candice figure the client must be the husband of Kendra Moreno. The high-profile case of the woman who mysteriously disappeared and left her young son alone in the house has been splashed all over the news. Unfortunately, when Abby starts to investigate, it seems as though she's not the only one with an eye on the case. Lucky for Abby, her fiancé, Dutch Rivers, makes it his mission to protect her. But can he save her from what may be the biggest threat of all: the wedding-planning attentions of her sister, Cat? Laurie's latest in the series (Vision Impossible, 2011, etc.) brings Abby back to her circle of friends. Fans will cheer her fast-talking return.

Another fabulous mystery from the super-talented Victoria Laurie! Psychic intuitive Abby Cooper is enjoying life in her new home of Austin, Texas. She and her fiancé Dutch are preparing for their wedding and the completion of construction on their dream home... if Abby would just give her opinions to the wedding planner, her sister Cat, and home builder, her friend Dave. Her last adventure (in Vision Impossible) has left her recovering from a broken pelvis so she hobbles away from decision-making as quickly as possible to the new office she shares with her BFF, private investigator Candice Fusco. The mystery begins with an intriguing set-up. A client vaguely refers to a crime that, as a lawyer, she can't really talk about, but asks Abby to investigate using her psychic abilities. Candice and Abby watch the news and quickly realize two things. First, the crime the lawyer was referring to involves a young mother who has gone missing. And second, they must investigate the crime and find out what happened to her. The plot races along with new questions, suspects and motives popping up around every corner. Abby has many things on her plate (a consultation with the Austin branch of the FBI, the upcoming wedding, construction on her new house, psychic appointments for clients, this new case to solve) all while nursing her physical recovery. After all, what bride wants to walk down the aisle with a bouquet in one hand and a cane in the other? The subplots are deftly woven into the story and each has its own satisfactory conclusion. As for the missing woman and the culprit behind her disappearance, I was guessing until the very end. This was a page-turner. I can't say enough good things about the wonderful character Ms. Laurie has created in Abby Cooper. She's headstrong, smart, witty. At the same time she has her faults, but they only serve to make the character more believable and sympathetic. I love Abby from her creative swearing and addiction to junk food to her caring nature and sense of adventure. The author is laugh-out-loud funny and uses humor to balance the tone of the dark crimes the characters uncover. Some reviews have been hard on Abby's behavior in this book, but I found nothing about her character "out of character." Yes, she runs from her sister who is only trying to help her get married, she runs from the guy building her dream home, she's enraged at her boyfriend's engagement present (you'll see...), and she uses her temporary disability to her advantage. You know what? I wouldn't expect anything less from Abby. The character has grown throughout the course of the series, but the author never has her do things that are out of character. I applaud her for that. And in the end, Abby's shortcomings make her more real and relatable. Her vulnerabilities make me cheer her on even more.

This is an excellent series! My sister and parents also read this authors books. The characters are great and an enjoyable read. The author keeps the story interesting and there are changes that make the story interesting without ruining the things you enjoy about the characters and their "lives". Very good books!

Abby Coopy is a clairvoyant private eye. When she gets a visit from a heavily disguised attorney who won't tell her who, or what, or even when, just that someone's in danger, Abby can't resist. With the help of her PI partner and friend, they discover there is a missing person and, in fact, two of them. The case is actually a sanity saver for Abby as her strong willed sister, Cat, has taken over the wedding plans for Abby - whether she wants Cat to or not.

I love this series. Laurie writes a great mystery and I the psychic elements really sucks me in. That being said, Abby was really annoying in this book. She was incredible cranky (Full Disclosure—She was recovering from a broken pelvis) and complained a lot. I do however like that she is getting back to doing psychic readings for civilian clientele.
