The listing of some song titles in Spanish as well as Portuguese is telling. The rhythm may be samba, but the sound and style is pure Rodriguez. Despite three less-exploited songs by Jobim, plus others by other greats, Let's Do the Bossa Nova is not one for the annals of bossa nova, nor is it the swinging dance sensation indicated by the jacket photo. But, like Edmundo Ros, Rodriguez sings with the plaintive sincerity and sensitivity that pop, vocal bossa nova is all about. For effort and uniqueness, it is among his better albums. ~ Tony Wilds
