    A Sweet Compromise

After years in a relationship with a man she thought she would marry and raise a family with, Heaven has to rethink her plan when her ex not only decides to go into business by himself, but dumped her for a white woman. Instead of dealing with her hurt and anger, she refocuses her mind on her career and opening her own business.~~~~~~~While eating lunch one day, she is approached by Hamid, a resident doctor from Pakistan. Heaven isn't interested in the good doctor, nor does she need his advice he gives. Unfortunately, she can't shake him. After a couple of chance encounters, Hamid feels it's fate that they have crossed paths, and sets about getting her to let down her guard long enough to get to know each other. These two both come into the relationship with stereotypes of one another, which Hamid uses to his advantage. Heaven is not without her suspicions, but Hamid is resilent. Soon he has to go back to Pakistan, just like Heaven, he has commitments that he's made.~~~~~~~In spite of these promises and their cultural/religious differences they decide to marry. Hamid determined to keep his promise to his father, and to Heaven, he goes back and forth between the continents. In the meantime, Heaven watches her business grow and becomes sucessful. Heaven has accomplished her goal, but at what cost? Her husband is across the water and seeing him only three times a year is not cutting it. They both are unhappy with the living arrangements, but Heaven doesn't want to plan her dreams around a man again likes she'd done before. She realizes Hamid has made sacrifices and compromises throughout their relationship, and she feels she needs to do the same.~~~~~~~Mrs. Davis has out-done herself with this multicultural romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining ride with Heaven and Hamid. I found the dialogue was witty, funny and very entertaining. I couldn't put it down. The fire and passion between Heaven and Hamid just leapt off the pages. It was like watching a movie. I thoroughly enjoyed their heated fights as well as their passionate,HOT and STEAMY make-ups. This novel was about more than their cultural and religious differences. It was about Heaven's past hurts and Hamid's male ego and pride. It was about finding a way to get past their issues and finding a mutual compromise so that they could to be together and both be happy. I enjoyed watching Heaven change slowly throughout the novel from totally fighting Hamid at every step to finally accepting her fate as his soulmate and still not totally giving up the the fiery, passionate, and opinionated woman that Hamid fell in love with. I enjoyed the closeness of Hamid and his family and the way they accepted and made Heaven feel welcomed.~~~~~~~ A very entertaining read you will not be disappointed.

    Original, meaningful, thought-provoking, and fun!

I truly loved this book! It is unque and honest. I love the fact that it tackled race, religion, gender roles, and the choice many men and women face between love and career. You find two strong-minded and convicted people who are firm in their beliefs, dreams, and commitments, but find that love can simply shake things up and force us to realize that no plan is greater than God's will. The book is not overzealous nor is it a cheesy and cliche' romance novel. The people and the challenges they face seem real. I also loved reading "a different interracial" story from the common ones we know where the couples are black and white...pun intended. I read the book in 1.5 days, and was so sad when it ended. "Let's Get It On" is a great read and truly a great story! Enjoy!

    A reviewer

I absolutely loved this book. it was such a sweet, grab you by the heart story! I'll admit that the female character, Heaven, was intense but it just made it more realistic. You really believed in their lives. I read this book twice in a month...I NEVER do that.
