Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
A group of five students and their teacher visit Ms. Crawford's classroom to find out what a teacher does. Ms. Crawford tells them she is a learning expert. She prepared for her job by going to college. Her students learn by reading and they also teach each other through the use of multimedia presentations. She is not shown doing any actual teaching. Ms. Crawford checks students' work using red pens and placing star stickers on the pages. She makes classroom rules to teach students how to be good community members. She rewards her students for following the rules with pizza parties. The visiting students are excited about fourth grade. (No mention is made of the grade they are in presently or why they needed to visit a classroom different from their own to find out what a teacher does.) Includes a glossary, bibliography, index, and directions for making a pencil holder. Part of the "Community Helpers" series. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.
