Let's Playby Leo Lionni
Here is a Leo Lionni book for the very youngest! “What shall we do today?” two mice ask each other. “Read a book? Pick flowers? Go swimming? Play ball? Climb a tree or gather leaves? Play hide-and-seek or dress-up? Talk on the telephone–until it’s time to say good night?” Lionni’s award-winning graphic art is at its best in this very simple board book that begs to be shared with a baby or toddler.

We received this book as a gift from the local assistance league while my child was sick in the hospital. She was too young to enjoy it then, but loves it now as a young toddler. The illustrations are unique and appear to be part drawn and part pieces of fabric. Each page is bright with vibrant colors. There are just a few words per page, so it is easy to keep a toddler interested (and helping to turn the pages). There are many objects that a child that is just learning to talk with recognize such as shoe, ball, telephone, and cheese. The main characters are a pair of sweet mice. We learn through reading the story about the many choices and adventures they encounter in one day. I would recommend this book to moms as a starter story for children 8 months and up.
