Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vicki Foote
Hopper is a bunny who loves his art class in this story designed for readers in first and second grades. Part of the "Developing Reader" series, this book, a "Level 2," provides new vocabulary and longer sentences. Hopper does not want to share the paints because everyone always wants to use the same color, and the other bunnies get in his way. The art teacher tells him that he is a very good artist, but he needs to learn to share. She suggests that he paint a poster and work with another student, Corny. Hopper does not like it but he decides to try. They keep bumping into each other, and Hopper becomes angry when Corny brushes his paint in the wrong place. Hopper decides to calm down and gets the idea of painting a purple monster in their picture. They both become excited about painting the monster and begin to enjoy themselves. The teacher hangs up the completed painting, and Hopper feels proud and happy. The illustrations of the cute bunnies are done in pale colors. This simple story, in four chapters, lacks excitement, but bunnies in an art class should add interest for the reader. Reviewer: Vicki Foote

I love these books for my little one. He's very focused on Thomas the Train so it takes a good book for him to ask for something else!
