About the Author

Susan L. Peña is a native of Berks County, PA, where she lives with her husband, Felix A. Peña, in Exeter Township. She holds a B.A. in anthropology from Dickinson College, and has studied piano since the age of 4.

Most of her career has been devoted to writing, as a copywriter for radio station WEEU, then as a music critic and arts writer for the Reading Eagle, and as a freelance journalist and private piano teacher.

In 2020, she began to write poetry seriously, returning to her first love. Since then she has been published in the PA Bards Eastern Pennsylvania Poetry Review, the Schuylkill Valley Journal, the Bards Against Hunger 10th Anniversary Edition: An Anthology of National and International Poets, and Gargoyle.

She is president of Berks Bards, a poetry community located in downtown Reading, PA. She has one daughter, Amanda Peña, and four grandchildren.
