Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Lisette Baez
The Ruins of Adler, the final fantasy adventure of fourteen year old Leven Thumps is nothing short of the continued action, humor and adventure of the previous novels within the series. The people of the land of Foo are wildly rushing to leave the realm of dreams but Leven Thumps seems to be the only one racing in the opposite direction of the exit. He is taken to the island of Adler with his trusty sycophant, Clover where he will have to face a final test. Will Leven pass or fail? Meanwhile, in Reality, the people who left Foo are being welcomed by Dennis and Ezra. Unbeknownst to all of Foo, Dennis and Ezra plan to conquer and gain control over both domains, Foo and Reality. Ezra is on the lookout for Geth, knowing he will be seeking revenge. In this final book, Winter who has been searching for her purpose may be the key to all that is happening. The reader will completely become engrossed in this imaginative land through the wonderful imagery and illustrations provided throughout the book. Reviewer: Lisette Baez

"Leven Thumps and the Ruins of Alder," by Obert Skye is the fifth and final book in the best-selling, one-of-a-kind "Leven Thumps" series. Containing not one dull moment, this book has many emotional scenes which will surely make the reader cry and also numerous funny moments which will make the reader laugh, creating the perfect example of what every book should have in it! With end-of-the-chapter cliff-hangers and suspense that just grows bigger and bigger, this book is impossible to put down and is a fantastic conclusion to the series, leaving the reader satisfied but still wanting more! Fortunately, there will be more! A new series by Obert Skye will be coming out which still has Foo in it and many of the same things from the "Leven Thumps" series, except it will have a new main character and plot. This series will be called "Geth and the Return of the Lithens." "Leven Thumps and the Ruins of Alder" is an amazing book which is a wonderful end to a marvelous series and will leave all fans eagerly awaiting the release of book one in the "Geth and the Return of the Lithens" series!

I don't hardly ever read young adult fiction. but this series is worth it. It's by far the most imaginative writing, and while very, very loose in form, I think his writing is spectacular. I've thoroughly enjoyed my journey through Foo.

This series is a great read for all ages and this book is no exception. Lots of exciting and humorous moments combine with well-developed characters and a fascinating storyline, and Obert Skye's method of writing makes it easy to read while still throwing in the odd philosophical discussion to make you think. The epilogue left a little to be desired, but overall it was an exciting ending which stays true to the Leven Thumps series. A must-read for fans of the series.

It's writen in a way that you just can't guess how it will end. At times you can not put it down and go to sleep at night, when you know you should. Every now and then you find a book that makes you try to look in the corners of your mind, and wonder maybe, just maybe it's possible. After reading this book I found myself looking at street corners a lillte more closely. I found it funny, thrilling, and a rather enjoyable way of spending my time. I only wish there were more at the end than there was.

I think this book was the best of them.It was sad and dark at times but it was a good adventure series. The characters were very good and they keeped you wanting to know more. For this series I suggest 13 and up.

I must be honest: this wasn't my favorite in the series. The first and the fourth books will always be my favorites, not entirely but partly because the four main characters weren't split up. Ruins of Alder was still an amazing book and I recommend the entire series to anyone. Obert Skye is a fantastic author and I will buy any book he EVER write because I know his writings are just that good.
